Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The acclaimed author of The Peep Diaries and Hello, I'm Special returns to fiction, and delivers a mind-altering collection of short stories that confront the hypocrisies, humiliations and hilarities of modern life. The foibles of the 21st-century ego are on full view in this romp through social conventions—imaginative, offbeat stories that confront society's intractable dilemmas and deftly capture the zeitgeist of our fractured times. *An undergraduate gets in way over his head when a class assignment to start a terrorist organization goes viral *A pregnant 10th-grader struggles with her fetus's insistence that she abort him before both their lives are ruined. *A man trying to come to terms with the death of a friend becomes obsessed with a funeral home's online braodcasts. *A mortgage broker gets lost between the Web and the real world in pursuit of a pornography-induced fantasy. Look Down, This is Where It Must Have Happened is a biting satire of nostalgia, a send-up of the way highschool-era friendships can permanently choke off the possibility of adulthood. "Witty and wise."—San Francisco Chronicle "An equally gifted fiction writer and social critic."—Tikkun "There's tons of talent here."—NOW Magazine "Hal Niedzviecki is a remarkable writer."—Margot Livesey, author of The House on Fortune Street

Book excerpt: This book was written to remind some and to make others aware that we belong to God, and it is Gods right to orchestrate our lives. Men and women were created by God. Since God is the creator, He is the only one that knows what He created us to do and to be. Man should not dictate over others by telling them what they should do; unless, their words are coming directly from God. No one should allow man to manipulate them into following wrong teachings and doings. That is what the serpent did to Adam and Eve. All of Gods creation is important to Him, and all was created with a specific purpose designed by God. Although, this book focuses on women, it is written to everyone. The goal of this book is to help everyone see that God has something for them to do, and chances are they will not be fulfilled or happy until they are doing what God created them to do. Women especially are being pushed back, criticized, ignored, silenced, and abused in todays churches. The majority of Christian women are being emotionally abused by their husbands over church people and church matters. Christian women and their children are suffering due to mans ignorance. This book is written to encourage women that they are somebody; that they matter to God; and that they have callings given to them directly from God. This books goal is to show women that just by being a woman there are certain things that only they can do and certain ministries that only they can fulfill. The ministry of motherhood is exclusive to a woman. Not only is motherhood exclusive, but what God tells a woman to do specifically is exclusive to her also. No one else should do what God created a particular person to do. The impact is not the same.

Book excerpt: My life is different now. I don't go to work. I don't have an office. I stay at home, hide behind curtains and make notes. I wait for something to happen.' Gordon Kingdom struggles with the fate of his seriously-ill wife while patiently observing and methodically recording the lives of those around him: his neighbours. He has files on them all, including Don Donald (best friend and petty thief), Annie Carnaffan (lives next door, throws footballs over the fence), and Benny (the boy who paints with his eyes closed). Then there's Angelica, the new girl (42) on the street, with her multi-coloured toenails and her filthy temper. It's when she arrives that Gordon's world of half-truths really begins to unravel. Faced with a series of unexpected events and a faltering conscience, he's left with an impossible decision. Because in the banality of everyday life, what would you do if the unthinkable happened?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Doc Bascom tries to show his grade school sons how to climb a huge sycamore, he ends up dropping 12 feet flat-out on his back. Stunned, he finally gasps, “So that’s how it’s done.” And in that moment, he becomes an emblem for all fathers—trying to lead the way, failing, then getting up and trying again. This “climbing lesson” is just one of 40 playful, sometimes poignant stories by award-winning author Tim Bascom, who illustrates the special bond between fathers and sons—and how that relationship must change with time. When Tim takes his own turn at fathering, he realizes that his devoted toddlers are turning into unimpressed teenagers. No longer the hero he had hoped to be, he must accept a new, flawed version of himself, not unlike his father before him. These brief inter-linked stories show that abiding affection can still prevail, bringing fathers and sons closer, even as they tackle the steepest parts of the climb.
