Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join New York Times bestselling author Diana Palmer with three classic Long, Tall Texans tales, plus USA Today bestseller Rita Herron’s fan-favorite tale of a rancher on the run. Hank (Originally published in 1995 as Redbird) After years of heartache and drama, Hank Shoeman has come to one conclusion…love is nothing more than a nuisance! He has retreated to a secluded Colorado cabin, eager to be away from the pesky outside world…and the hurt that came with it. Instead, Hank is distracted by a beautiful young woman—and gets so much more than he ever bargained for… Coltrain (Originally published in 1995 as Coltrain’s Proposal) Doctors Jebediah Coltrain and Louise Blakely have been arch-enemies since Louise’s father had cruelly betrayed Jeb years ago. Jeb will stop at nothing to get revenge, plotting to convince lovely Louise to marry him, then to bring her and her family down for good. But the good doctor never counted on falling for his fake fiancée and breaking his own rules of engagement. Marshall (Originally published in 1998 as The Princess Bride) Kingman Marshall knows he’s too old, too jaded, and too burdened with secrets for fresh, youthful Tiffany Blair. And Tiffany’s not the kind of girl for just one night of passion; she’s an innocent, made for walking down the aisle to her groom. But Kingman is the only one Tiffany wants, and she’ll stop at nothing to make him hers…forever! Grant Dana Mobry has worked her family’s Texas ranch her entire life. Where does it say a rancher’s daughter has to marry a long, tall Texan—or lose her cherished home? In her father’s will—and Dana’s just discovered that her partner in this marriage of convenience is none other than the sexiest cowboy in Texas, Hank Grant! Ultimate Cowboy Rancher Brody Bloodworth has spent years blaming himself for his brother’s disappearance. If he hadn’t snuck off to be with Julie Whitehead, everything would have been different. Now FBI agent Julie is back in town, and sparks fly as they prepare for a showdown with ruthless kidnappers.

Then he started to get to know Lou, to let down his guard to her warmth and caring, and everything changed. After so many years of conflict, can he prove to Lou that his love is real?

Book excerpt: From world-renowned author Erich Segal comes a powerful and moving saga of five extraordinary members of the Harvard class of 1958 and the women with whom their lives are intertwined. Five lives, five love stories: Danny Rossi, the musical prodigy, risks it all for Harvard, even a break with his domineering father. Yet his real problems are too much fame too soon—and too many women. Ted Lambros spends his four years as a commuter, an outsider. He is obsessed by his desire to climb to the top of the Harvard academic ladder, heedless of what it will cost him in personal terms. Jason Gilbert, the Golden Boy—handsome, charismatic, a brilliant athlete—learns at Harvard that he cannot ignore his Jewish background. Only in tragedy will he find his true identity. George Keller, a refugee from Communist Hungary, comes to Harvard with the barest knowledge of English. But with ruthless determination, he masters not only the language but the power structure of his new country. Andrew Eliot is haunted by three centuries of Harvard ancestors who cast giant shadows on his confidence. It is not until the sad and startling events of the reunion that he learns his value as a man. Their explosive story begins in a time of innocence and spans a turbulent quarter century, culminating in their dramatic twenty-five year reunion at which they confront their classmates—and the balance sheet of their own lives. Always at the center; amid the passion, laughter, and glory, stands Harvard—the symbol of who they are and who they will be. They were a generation who made the rules—then broke them—whose glittering successes, heartfelt tragedies, and unbridled ambitions would stun the world. Praise for The Class “Erich Segal’s best.”—Pittsburgh Press “First class entertainment.”—Cosmopolitan “An absorbing page-turner.”—Publishers Weekly “A panoramic saga.”—Philadelphia Inquirer

Book excerpt: Using Science to Improve the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program: A Way Forward reviews the science that underpins the Bureau of Land Management's oversight of free-ranging horses and burros on federal public lands in the western United States, concluding that constructive changes could be implemented. The Wild Horse and Burro Program has not used scientifically rigorous methods to estimate the population sizes of horses and burros, to model the effects of management actions on the animals, or to assess the availability and use of forage on rangelands. Evidence suggests that horse populations are growing by 15 to 20 percent each year, a level that is unsustainable for maintaining healthy horse populations as well as healthy ecosystems. Promising fertility-control methods are available to help limit this population growth, however. In addition, science-based methods exist for improving population estimates, predicting the effects of management practices in order to maintain genetically diverse, healthy populations, and estimating the productivity of rangelands. Greater transparency in how science-based methods are used to inform management decisions may help increase public confidence in the Wild Horse and Burro Program.
