Niger, West Africa, 2074 It is an era of tainted technology and mysterious mysticism. A great change has happened all over the planet, and the laws of physics aren’t what they used to be. Within all this, I introduce you to Ejii Ugabe, a child of the worst type of politician. Back when she was nine years old, she was there as her father met his end. Don’t waste your tears on him: this girl’s father would throw anyone under a bus to gain power. He was a cruel, cruel man, but even so, Ejii did not rejoice at his departure from the world. Children are still learning that some people don’t deserve their love. Now 15 years old and manifesting the abilities given to her by the strange Earth, Ejii decides to go after the killer of her father. Is it for revenge or something else? You will have to find out by reading this book. I am the Desert Magician, and this is a novel I have conjured for you, so I’m certainly not going to just tell you here.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The African Child author tells it as it happened from the harrowing childhood experience to the ups and downs of his adulthood in the African capital cities and the rural typical village. The interesting mix of hard work and faith in Gods Providence makes for an exhilarating reading that challenges African policy makers. The authors critical assessment of the Nigerian crisis in the mid sixties soon after Independence as he places blame on both sides of the conflict depicts the writers sense of impartiality to be encouraged by political leaders particularly in Africa. This book examines thoughtfully the various stages in human development and finds no excuse in the down trodden level of the black man from his native land in Africa to his imposed second home anywhere, particularly in the United States. In the closing chapters the book exposes the hardship, the loss of human dignity and personal exploitation of all black people from the days of the slave trade till today. The book challenges the conscience of world leaders and calls for Reparation for slavery and colonialism. Besides, the author seeks to inculcate the spirit of self respect in all African people maintaining that self respect is the smoothening oil for human dignity while chastising all races of mankind to judge a person not by the color of his skin but by the content of his character, as Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. admonished. This is a must read for all civil rights activists, college young students and world leaders and politicians. Asuzu Agwunobi

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although numerous studies have been made of the Western educated political elite of colonial Nigeria in particular, and of Africa in general, very few have approached the study from a perspective that analyzes the impacts of indigenous institutions on the lives, values, and ideas of these individuals. This book is about the diachronic impact of indigenous and Western agencies in the upbringing, socialization, and careers of the colonial Igbo political elite of southeastern Nigeria. The thesis argues that the new elite manifests the continuity of traditions and culture and therefore their leadership values and the impact they brought on African society cannot be fully understood without looking closely at their lived experiences in those indigenous institutions where African life coheres. The key has been to explore this question at the level of biography, set in the context of a carefully reconstructed social history of the particular local communities surrounding the elite figures. It starts from an understanding of their family and village life, and moves forward striving to balance the familiar account of these individuals in public life, with an account of the ongoing influences from family, kinship, age grades, marriage and gender roles, secret societies, the church, local leaders and others. The result is not only a model of a new approach to African elite history, but also an argument about how to understand these emergent leaders and their peers as individuals who shared with their fellow Africans a dynamic and complex set of values that evolved over the six decades of colonialism.
