In a strange twist of fate, Brock and Heather find themselves thrown into the dark world of the fae. To win the game, and rescue the girl, Brock will have to learn the truth about his mate, but her secrets could also tear them apart… Brock Hume is a lone wolf, and right now he's hunting the most tempting prey he's ever encountered. He really can't help himself. Her scent reminds him of the heather blossoms of his homeland, and she has curves he can't wait to get his paws on. And she was running from him… A werewolf. Heather Knight has to be the worst faerie ever, but being that she grew up as a human, that really shouldn't be a surprise. She can't even tell when a man isn't actually a man at all. And she really should have known, for no mortal human was that hot. To protect her heart—and her true identity—she runs. Run, little faerie. Run. I have all kinds of plans for what I'll do when I catch you. If you love fated mates, forbidden romance, wolf shifters, fae, fantasy, steamy scenes, BBW, and alpha males with a cinnamon roll center, you're going to love Lone Wolf's Claim! Book excerpt: She’s human. I’m not. She’s prey. I’m the predator. She’s off-limits and I’m over the line. I’m not supposed to hunt her, I'm not supposed to want her, but I do. She’s on the run from the MC, making a new life for herself deep in the Louisiana bayou, and only a bastard would go after her. Did I mention that I’m not a nice guy? – Blade Grant "Blade" Dean spent years fighting for the Breed motorcycle club. He’s sworn fealty to the MC’s Alpha, and pack comes first… until he rescues a human female from a territory war. He’s no white knight, and he’s tired of the fighting. He’s found his woman, and now he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her… Blade is fifty shades of wrong and Leah Holmes knows it. She knew it when she gave him her virginity four years ago and she knows it when he talks his way onto her houseboat. He’s a bad boy biker, a killer—and a wolf. Giving a big, bad wolf a second chance is stupid… isn’t it?

I'm used to fighting for what I want, and I want Bitsy. This time, she won't be getting away. Keegan McRae is the alpha of the Austin werewolf pack. And sometimes, for the good of all involved, a male has to make choices he wouldn't normally abide by. Like allowing the Faerie you're sweet on to be the main attraction in a rodeo. Not as the cowgirl, but as the livestock. Stubborn as a bull and just as fearless, Bitsy caught his interest the first time she flipped him off. But before he had a chance to make things right with her, she got loose. And though his wolf howled in protest at the loss, he had no choice but to let her go. Bláthnaid (Bitsy) Dunn swore she would never again set foot in the hellhole that was Texas. Or anywhere near the arrogant shifter who was the main reason she hated it so much. The last time she'd seen him, his well-worn boots had stomped all over her hide—and her pride. Yet, here she was again. This time, however, she's here on her terms. Keegan needs her help to infiltrate the fae world, and she needs him to help her find her father. His green eyes are full of remorse, and his easy smile is hard to resist, but forgiveness isn't part of the deal.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Landmark court cases in the history of formal U.S. relations with Indian tribes are Corn Tassel, Standing Bear, Crow Dog, and Lone Wolf. Each exemplifies a problem or a process as the United States defined and codified its politics toward Indians. The importance of the Lone Wolf case of 1903 resides in its enunciation of the "plenary power" doctrine?that the United States could unilaterally act in violation of its own treaties and that Congress could dispose of land recognized by treaty as belonging to individual tribes. In 1892 the Kiowas and related Comanche and Plains Apache groups were pressured into agreeing to divide their land into allotments under the terms of the Dawes Act of 1887. Lone Wolf, a Kiowa band leader, sued to halt the land division, citing the treaties signed with the United States immediately after the Civil War. In 1902 the case reached the Supreme Court, which found that Congress could overturn the treaties through the doctrine of plenary power. As he recounts the Lone Wolf case, Clark reaches beyond the legal decision to describe the Kiowa tribe itself and its struggles to cope with Euro-American pressure on its society, attitudes, culture, economic system, and land base. The story of the case therefore also becomes the history of the tribe in the late nineteenth century. The Lone Wolf case also necessarily becomes a study of the Dawes Allotment Act of 1887 in operation; under the terms of the Dawes Act and successor legislation, almost two-thirds of Indian lands passed out of their hands within a generation. Understanding how this happened in the case of the Kiowa permits a nuanced view of the well-intentioned but ultimately disastrous allotment effort.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lethality of lone-wolf terrorism has reached an all-time high in the United States. Isolated individuals using firearms with high-capacity magazines are committing brutally efficient killings with the aim of terrorizing others, yet there is little consensus on what connects these crimes and the motivations behind them. In The Age of Lone Wolf Terrorism, terrorism experts Mark S. Hamm and Ramón Spaaij combine criminological theory with empirical and ethnographic research to map the pathways of lone-wolf radicalization, helping with the identification of suspected behaviors and recognizing patterns of indoctrination. Reviewing comprehensive data on these actors, including more than two hundred terrorist incidents, Hamm and Spaaij find that a combination of personal and political grievances lead lone wolves to befriend online sympathizers—whether jihadists, white supremacists, or other antigovernment extremists—and then announce their intent to commit terror when triggered. Hamm and Spaaij carefully distinguish between lone wolves and individuals radicalized within a group dynamic. This important difference is what makes this book such a significant manual for professionals seeking richer insight into the transformation of alienated individuals into armed warriors. Hamm and Spaaij conclude with an analysis of recent FBI sting operations designed to prevent lone-wolf terrorism in the United States, describing who gets targeted, strategies for luring suspects, and the ethics of arresting and prosecuting citizens.

Book excerpt: For the first time, the life and mind of Anders Behring Breivik, the most unexpected of mass murderers, is examined and set in the context of wider criminal psychology. *Winner of the 2016 Silver Falchion Award for Best Nonfiction Adult Book* July 22, 2011 was the darkest day in Norway’s history since Nazi Germany’s invasion. It was one hundred eighty-nine minutes of terror, from the moment the bomb exploded outside a government building until Anders Behring Breivik was apprehended by the police at Utøya Island. Breivik murdered seventy-seven people, most of them teenagers and young adults, and wounded hundreds more. The massacre left the world in shock. Breivik is the archetypal "lone wolf killer," often overlooked until the moment they commit their crime. He has inspired others like him, just as Breivik was inspired by Timothy McVeigh and Theodore Kaczynski. No other killer has murdered more people single-handedly in one day. Adam Lanza studied Breivik’s now infamous manifesto prior to his own unthinkable crime. Breivik was Lanza’s role model, as he will no doubt be for others in the future who are frustrated with their societies, and most of all, their lives. Breivik is also unique as he is the only "lone wolf" killer in recent history to still be alive and in captivity. With unparalleled research and a unique international perspective, The Mystery of the Lone Wolf Killer examines the massacre itself and why this lone-killer phenomenon is increasing worldwide.

However, I’m not ready to let him go… I was born a slave. I refused to die as one. Not even for a witch like Angel Moss. With hair like fire and a body made for sin, nothing about her lived up to her name. That right there should have been enough to warn me away, but like a moth to a flame, I’m lured into her secrets. And with the first taste of her blood, the truth slams into me like a nightmare come true. Angel is MINE, only she isn’t taking me to heaven. She’s dragging me to hell.
