Book Synopsis Local Gradient Theory for Dielectrics by : Olha Hrytsyna
Download or read book Local Gradient Theory for Dielectrics written by Olha Hrytsyna and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-11-22 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the development of the local gradient theory of dielectrics. It presents a brief description of the known approaches to the construction of generalized (integral- and gradient-type) continuous theories of dielectrics. It describes a new continuum–thermodynamic approach to the construction of nonlinear high-order gradient theory of thermoelastic non-ferromagnetic polarized media. This approach is based on accounting for non-diffusive and non-convective mass fluxes associated with the changes in the material microstructure. Within the linear approximation, the theory has been applied to study transition modes of the formation of near-surface inhomogeneity of coupled fields in solids, disjoining pressure in thin films, etc. The theory describes a number of observable phenomena (including the surface, size, flexoelectric, pyroelectric, and thermopolarization effects in centrosymmetric crystals, the Meads anomaly, the high frequency dispersion of elastic waves, etc.) that cannot be explained within the framework of the classical theory of dielectrics.

Book Synopsis Polarization Gradient in Elastic Dielectrics by : Raymond David Mindlin
Download or read book Polarization Gradient in Elastic Dielectrics written by Raymond David Mindlin and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By inclusion of the polarization gradient in the stored energy function of elastic dielectrics, the classical theory of piezoelectricity is extended to accommodate an electro-mechanical interaction in centrosymmetric (including isotropic) materials and a surface energy of deformation and polarization. Book Synopsis Flexoelectricity in Solids by : Alexander K Tagantsev
Download or read book Flexoelectricity in Solids written by Alexander K Tagantsev and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-08-11 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique compendium is devoted to flexoelectricity — the response of polarization to a strain gradient. The effect is analogous to piezoelectricity which is the response of polarization to strain itself. In contrast to piezoelectricity, which appears only in non-centrosymmetric materials, flexoelectric effect is allowed by symmetry in any materials. It becomes appreciable in nano-scale systems, where large strain gradients arise. The book discusses different nano-scale manifestations of the effect ranging from repulsion of acoustic and optic branches of materials to flexoelectricity in domain walls. It mainly caters for scientists, engineers and students.
Book Synopsis An Introduction to the Theory of Piezoelectricity by : Jiashi Yang
Download or read book An Introduction to the Theory of Piezoelectricity written by Jiashi Yang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-29 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook introduces theoretical piezoelectricity. The second edition updates a classical, seminal reference on a fundamental topic that is addressed in every materials science curriculum. It presents a concise treatment of the basic theoretical aspects of continuum modeling of electroelastic interactions in solids. The general nonlinear theory for large deformations and strong fields is established and specialized to the linear theory for small deformations and weak fields, i.e., the theory of piezoelectricity. Relatively simple and useful solutions of many static and dynamic problems of piezoelectricity that are useful in device applications are given. Emphasis is on the formulation of solutions to problems rather than advanced mathematical solution techniques. This book includes many examples to assist and enhance students’ understanding of piezoelectricity and piezoelastics.
