Book excerpt: Christians who are passionate about helping others—but aren’t sure where or how to focus their energy—will find much to love about Zealous Love. Authors Mike and Danae Yankoski have written just what Christians need to integrate compassion and justice into their lives. “Our hope,” they write, “is that God will work through this book … to help direct your life so that you can act on tangible concern for neighbors in need, both globally and locally. That’s the prayer knit into every sentence, every word, of Zealous Love.” Zealous Love introduces eight of the world’s most pressing challenges: hunger, unclean water, HIV/AIDS, creation degradation, lack of education, economic inequality, refugees, and human trafficking. But it does more than educate. It provides real, practical, do-able steps anyone can take to help make a difference.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is holy zeal? From Revelation 3:19, “Be Zealous,” Ashe divides his work into 8 parts. Part 1 explains the text expounding on what Christ means in being zealous. Parts 2-3 briefly describe how zeal is to be exercised for good, and how it is to be exercised against evil. His main objective will come to light in parts 4 and 5, dealing with those who are not zealous – how they should be – and then teaches the motives by which Christians may be provoked to seek the increase of holy zeal in their life. In part 6 he covers the means to be used for obtaining zeal, with hindrances to be avoided, and then demonstrates all Gospel administrations, being rightly used as a means to increase true biblical zeal. In part 7 he gives nine rules to guide Christians to improve zeal in their life, and then ends in part 8 with an incitement to magistrates, ministers and private Christians to improve zeal, especially seen in not profaning the Sabbath, attendance on sacred ordinances, and that ministers may be encouraged to perform their duties for the betterment of the church and nation. Do you have a heart enflamed with zeal for God, true zeal, true biblical heat and spiritual fervor? If your outward performance of true religion stems from the inward change made by the Holy Spirit, then such zealous action on behalf of Christ is heartily commendable. True regenerate Christians should be taking heaven by storm, violently seizing the Kingdom of God by force, and pressing into the Kingdom with all their might. Yet, though there are those who glorify Christ in their religious zeal through obedience to the revealed word, there are also those who perform external religious acts remaining still unconverted. Those who are living under the eminent means of grace but possess a superficial affection to the things of God are called Gospel hypocrites, and their zeal is fake. They introduce a form of godliness but deny the power of God, and so the Apostle Paul says that, “from such turn away,” (2 Tim. 3:5). Ashe did not preach and write this treatise simply for the sake of being informative. He heartily desired to see the people of God in his day transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit towards a heated zeal for the means of grace. As Ashe will show, it is the command of Jesus Christ for every Christian church member to be zealous. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Todd Wilson’s church was devoted to the gospel and had long aspired to be the kind of city on a hill Jesus talks about in the Sermon on the Mount. They wanted their hurting neighbors to see the light of Christ and be drawn to meet Jesus. But how? What practices actually make something like that possible? They found the answers they were looking for in Titus. In that often-overlooked book of the Bible, they discovered a call to be zealous for good works—the kind of good works that are like a bright light shining in the darkness. Zealous for Good Works is an exposition of Titus with a particular focus on mobilizing the church towards acting in kindness and goodness toward her neighbors. This book is for anyone who’s ever wanted to make a difference in the world, and see their church do the same, but wondered how to make it happen. Zealous for Good Works offers you field-tested, scripturally based, practical answers that you and your church leaders will get excited about putting into practice. Titus 2:11–14 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rob Rufus argues that grace is the extra dimension that enables Christians to live like Christ, enabling them to tap into the realm of unlimited supernatural^resources and to experience unprecedented potential for growth. Understanding God's grace fully enables us to grow and flourish, fulfilling our destiny and becoming fruitful. Rob's central tenet is that instead of trying to live^up to other people's expectations, it's a relief to discover that God loves us just the way we are. Commendations: "Rob's powerful book advances the 'Grace Revolution' already underway in the churches." Greg Haslam, Minister, Westminster Chapel, London "Rob Rufus has given us an excellent practical guide to show us that true Christian victory is simply learning to live in the grace of God a lesson that so many of us need to^hear again and again." David Devenish, International Team, NewFrontiers^www.authenticmedia.co.uk About the author: Rob was saved out of the Hare Krishna movement. He planted and led Victory Faith Centre, South Africa, for twelve years and then worked with Dudley Daniel at Coastlands Christian Centre in Adelaide, Australia which grew to over 1,000 members. In 2005 he planted a church in Hong Kong.
