Consequently, slaughter of grain-fed cattle this fall will exceed that of last year. How many grass cattle will go to slaughter will be governed mainly by the number of cattle put into feed lots, since sale of twe-way cattle as feeders removes them.from.the immediate supply for slaughter. The most likely prospect is that eattle slaughter will have less of a seasonal peak this fall than usual and that the total number slaughtered in the last months of the year will be slightly smaller'than in the same neriod of 1948.
