Book excerpt: A murcha ou amarelecimento do feijoeiro comum causada por Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. phaseoli, inicialmente apresentava importância apenas na região Nordeste do Brasil. Atualmente encontra-se amplamente disseminada no país, principalmente em áreas sob condições de pivô central, devido ao cultivo continuado do feijoeiro comum. Seu controle através de práticas culturais é muito difícil, sendo a alternativa mais viável e eficaz a obtenção de cultivares resistentes, objetivo do presente trabalho. Utilizando o método de retrocruzamento, complementado com inoculação utilizando o isolado FOP 46, foram obtidas linhagens nas gerações F4RC2 e F6RC2 homozigotas para resistência ao patógeno. A utilização de dois retrocruzamentos foi suficiente para obter linhagens com alta produtividade, excelentes características agronômicas e alta qualidade comercial de grãos, devido aos genitores doadores e recorrentes terem sido cultivares recomendadas para o plantio no país.
