Download or read book Finite Fields and Applications written by Stephen Cohen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1996-09-28 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finite fields are algebraic structures in which there is much research interest. This book gives a state-of-the-art account of finite fields and their applications in communications (coding theory, cryptology), combinatorics, design theory, quasirandom points, algorithms and their complexity. Typically, theory and application are tightly interwoven in the survey articles and original research papers included here. The book also demonstrates interconnections with other branches of pure mathematics such as number theory, group theory and algebraic geometry. This volume is an invaluable resource for any researcher in finite fields or related areas.
Book Synopsis Recurrence Sequences by : Graham Everest
Download or read book Recurrence Sequences written by Graham Everest and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-09-03 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recurrence sequences are of great intrinsic interest and have been a central part of number theory for many years. Moreover, these sequences appear almost everywhere in mathematics and computer science. This book surveys the modern theory of linear recurrence sequences and their generalizations. Particular emphasis is placed on the dramatic impact that sophisticated methods from Diophantine analysis and transcendence theory have had on the subject. Related work on bilinear recurrences and an emerging connection between recurrences and graph theory are covered. Applications and links to other areas of mathematics are described, including combinatorics, dynamical systems and cryptography, and computer science. The book is suitable for researchers interested in number theory, combinatorics, and graph theory.

Book Synopsis Advances in Cryptology - CRYPTO '90 by : Alfred J. Menezes
Download or read book Advances in Cryptology - CRYPTO '90 written by Alfred J. Menezes and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-06-30 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crypto '90 marked the tenth anniversary of the Crypto conferences held at the University of California at Santa Barbara. The conference was held from August 11 to August 15, 1990 and was sponsored by the International Association for Cryptologic Research, in cooperation with the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Security and Privacy and the Department of Computer Science of the University of California at Santa Barbara. 227 participants from twenty countries around the world. Crypto '90 attracted Roughly 35% of attendees were from academia, 45% from industry and 20% from government. The program was intended to provide a balance between the purely theoretical and the purely practical aspects of cryptography to meet the needs and diversified interests of these various groups. The overall organization of the conference was superbly handled by the general chairperson Sherry McMahan. All of the outstanding features of Crypto, which we have come to expect over the years, were again present and, in addition to all of this, she did a magnificent job in the preparation of the book of abstracts. This is a crucial part of the program and we owe her a great deal of thanks.

Book Synopsis An Invitation to Analytic Combinatorics by : Stephen Melczer
Download or read book An Invitation to Analytic Combinatorics written by Stephen Melczer and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-22 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses new mathematical tools to examine broad computability and complexity questions in enumerative combinatorics, with applications to other areas of mathematics, theoretical computer science, and physics. A focus on effective algorithms leads to the development of computer algebra software of use to researchers in these domains. After a survey of current results and open problems on decidability in enumerative combinatorics, the text shows how the cutting edge of this research is the new domain of Analytic Combinatorics in Several Variables (ACSV). The remaining chapters of the text alternate between a pedagogical development of the theory, applications (including the resolution by this author of conjectures in lattice path enumeration which resisted several other approaches), and the development of algorithms. The final chapters in the text show, through examples and general theory, how results from stratified Morse theory can help refine some of these computability questions. Complementing the written presentation are over 50 worksheets for the SageMath and Maple computer algebra systems working through examples in the text.

Download or read book Handbook of Algebra written by and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-12-18 with total page 936 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Algebra defines algebra as consisting of many different ideas, concepts and results. Even the nonspecialist is likely to encounter most of these, either somewhere in the literature, disguised as a definition or a theorem or to hear about them and feel the need for more information. Each chapter of the book combines some of the features of both a graduate-level textbook and a research-level survey. This book is divided into eight sections. Section 1A focuses on linear algebra and discusses such concepts as matrix functions and equations and random matrices. Section 1B cover linear dependence and discusses matroids. Section 1D focuses on fields, Galois Theory, and algebraic number theory. Section 1F tackles generalizations of fields and related objects. Section 2A focuses on category theory, including the topos theory and categorical structures. Section 2B discusses homological algebra, cohomology, and cohomological methods in algebra. Section 3A focuses on commutative rings and algebras. Finally, Section 3B focuses on associative rings and algebras. This book will be of interest to mathematicians, logicians, and computer scientists.
