Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every athlete who spends time in the weight room eventually deals with pain/injury that leaves them frustrated and unable to reach their highest potential. Every athlete ought to have the ability to take the first steps at addressing these minor injuries. They shouldn’t have to wait weeks for a doctor’s appointment, only to be prescribed pain medications and told to “take two weeks off lifting” or, even worse, to “stop lifting so heavy.” Dr. Aaron Horschig knows your pain and frustration. He’s been there. For over a decade, Dr. Horschig has been a competitive weightlifter, and he understands how discouraging it is to tweak your back three weeks out from a huge weightlifting competition, to have knee pain limit your ability to squat heavy for weeks, and to suffer from chronic shoulder issues that keep you from reaching your goals. Rebuilding Milo is the culmination of Dr. Horschig’s life’s work as a sports physical therapist, certified strength and conditioning specialist, and Olympic weightlifting coach. It contains all of the knowledge he has amassed over the past decade while helping some of the best athletes in the world. Now he wants to share that knowledge with you. This book, designed by a strength athlete for anyone who spends time in the weight room, is the solution to your struggles with injury and pain. It walks you through simple tests and screens to uncover the movement problem at the root of your pain. After discovering the cause of your injury, you’ll be able to create an individualized rehab program as laid out in this book. Finally, you’ll be on the right path to eliminate your pain and return to the activities you love.

Book Synopsis Integrating Ecohydraulics in River Restoration by : José Maria Santos
Download or read book Integrating Ecohydraulics in River Restoration written by José Maria Santos and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-03-16 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rivers have been intensively degraded due to increasing anthropogenic impacts from a growing population in a continuously developing world. Accordingly, most rivers suffer from pressures as a result of increasing dam and weir construction, habitat degradation, flow regulation, water pollution/abstraction, and the spread of invasive species. Science-based knowledge regarding solutions to counteract the effects of river degradation, and melding principles of aquatic ecology and engineering hydraulics, is thus urgently needed to guide present and future river restoration actions. This Special Issue gathers a coherent set of studies from different geographic contexts, on fundamental and applied research regarding the integration of ecohydraulics in river restoration, ranging from field studies to laboratory experiments that can be applied to real-world challenges. It contains 13 original papers covering ecohydraulic issues such as river restoration technologies, sustainable hydropower, fish passage designs and operational criteria, and habitat modeling. All papers were reviewed by international experts in ecology, hydraulics, aquatic biology, engineering, geomorphology, and hydrology. The papers herein well represent the wide applicability of ecohydraulics in river restoration and serve as a basis to improve current knowledge and management and to reduce arguments between different interests and opinions.

Book Synopsis Downhill ski technique, step by step by : Janos Koranyi
Download or read book Downhill ski technique, step by step written by Janos Koranyi and published by Janos Koranyi. This book was released on 2019-04-20 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is especially written for all insecure skiers in the first place. If you think, that you are a beginner or an intermediate skier, this book is thought to be the right choice for you. But everyone, interested in understanding, developing, learning and teaching downhill skiing can benefit from this work. I have been working on this material since 2010 and the work is still going on. My basic point is, that you should prepare yourself, before you go to ski. It is too late to make your mental preparation on the slopes, this should be done at home before. You should be able to imagine for yourself what you must do in order to do it right or as good as possible. This imagination should not be just a picture! It should be like a whole movie, with many of your senses involved, just like in a detailed dream. Like, if you can imagine the whole ski-turn with many, clear details, what basic movements you have to do, how it should feel in your body, how it should look like, how it should change during the development of your turn, this will prepare your correct movements in the real life. But this must happen step by step, starting by the easiest skills and developing further when you have tried out the first steps first. For this reason I have divided the material in 3 different levels. You will need quite a long time for this. So please be patient, take your time, work with my book, do not just read it! Understanding and explaining skiing is complicated and it takes time. My suggestion is to read carefully, take several breaks and think carefully about the sections you find difficult to understand. If you are a beginner, start reading the book as soon as possible before your start your skiing. You can stop reading after the beginner level and go skiing on green and blue slopes.
