Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human beings have the unique ability to consciously reflect on the nature of the self. But reflection has its costs. We can ask what the self is, but as David Hume pointed out, the self, once reflected upon, may be nowhere to be found. The favored view is that we are material beings living in the material world. But if so, a host of destabilizing questions surface. If persons are just a sophisticated sort of animal, then what sense is there to the idea that we are free agents who control our own destinies? What makes the life of any animal, even one as sophisticated as Homo sapiens, worth anything? What place is there in a material world for God? And if there is no place for a God, then what hold can morality possibly have on us--why isn't everything allowed? Flanagan's collection of essays takes on these questions and more. He continues the old philosophical project of reconciling a scientific view of ourselves with a view of ourselves as agents of free will and meaning-makers. But to this project he brings the latest insights of neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychiatry, exploring topics such as whether the conscious mind can be explained scientifically, whether dreams are self-expressive or just noise, the moral socialization of children, and the nature of psychological phenomena such as multiple personality disorder and false memory syndrome. What emerges from these explorations is a liberating vision which can make sense of the self, agency, character transformation, and the value and worth of human life. Flanagan concludes that nothing about a scientific view of persons must lead to nihilism.

I have never been one to be afraid to do something new. I get such joy out of the most normal-day occurrences such as in my expressions about life, vacation, and the Lord. I believe you will be able to see yourself in many of my expressions of life. I also believe you can tell a lot about a person by how someone treats the less fortunate than yourself. I try to be a very generous and caring person. I feel that I have never really lost at anything, for everything in life is a learning opportunity""not a failure. In this book, you will find all the joys and sorrows of everyday life. I hope my expressions of life reach backward in time and bring you many fond memories. I want my expressions of life to give you great hope for the future and the never-ending possibilities in life. Paul

Book excerpt: It would be no exaggeration if I say that language is a special gift from Allah SWT, the Almighty God and it is ubiquitous and special only for mankind. In the sense ubiquitous, language exists everywhere on this earth and people use it as a means of communication for their daily activities in terms of with human relationships (Hablum minannaas) and their religious activities in terms of God relationship (Hablum minnAllah). Language is specific to human beings and as such, it is not found in other species. The omnipresence of language makes it possible for us to possess the ability to communicate with each other. Human society cannot function without language because true social interaction must be carried out with the help of an effective means of communication. Among several communication systems, language system is the most effective and efficient because, with limited sound units and limited morphological items, te human beings can create a limitless number of sentences. Therefore, language has become a dispensible vehicle in social life.

Human nature. A human reality. The poems and narratives expressed in this book reflect the creative nature and expression of a life. On this higher and deeper level of being, ones life and views become enriched by other people’s lives and views. One experiences greater freedom and liberty especially from preconceived ideas, errors, and fears. This work is not only a glimpse into an individual’s world, but a different view of the world at large.

Book excerpt: In writing this book, I chose to use unusual appeal, with personal vulnerability, while instilling unstructured abstract, raw writing techniques. Pure, true to life, straight from the heart, original rhyme schemes. Setting a foundation for interesting short stories and poems with a lyrical twist. I do not claim or perceive to use any set formula. My ultimate goal is to capture the reader's mind by originality. Not by following any other interpretation, rules, or guide lines. I hope to touch and relate to readers of all walks of life, in seeking answers through fiction and non-fiction experiences, by using humorous and hardship situations in real life in order to enlighten one's mind. In the day to day drudgery of life, one digs deep down in their soul to find fulfillment within themselves. To make a balance for one's life. By writing, a to the point, short story with a touch of poetic, rhythmic, writing style (found in Country music songs, only lacking the melody). I hope to captivate in the reader's mind an interesting detail of mine and others life experiences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this first book-length study of the topic, Robert C. Scharff offers a detailed analysis of the young Heidegger’s interpretation of Dilthey’s hermeneutics of historical life and Husserl’s transcendental phenomenology. He argues that it is Heidegger’s prior reading of Dilthey that grounds his critical appropriation of Husserl’s phenomenology. He shows that in Heidegger’s early lecture courses, a “possible” phenomenology is presented as a genuine alternative with the modern philosophies of consciousness to which Husserl’s “actual” phenomenology is still too closely tied. All of these philosophies tend to overestimate the degree to which we can achieve intellectual independence from our surroundings and inheritance. In response, Heidegger explains why becoming phenomenological is always a possibility; but being a phenomenologist is not. Scharff concludes that this discussion of the young Heidegger, Husserl, and Dilthey leads to the question of our own current need for a phenomenological philosophy—that is, for a philosophy that avoids technique-happiness, that at least sometimes thinks with a self-awareness that takes no theoretical distance from life, and that speaks in a language that is “not yet” selectively representational.

This Torus Energy Vortex has a very powerful center which contains; All Wisdom, All Light, All Power, All Love, All Truth and All Energy that makes up All of Existence. Each being accesses this center by way of four mediums of life expression; these mediums of life expression are: Thoughts, Emotions (feelings), Words/Sounds spoken or written and internal/external physical movement. If a being understands this natural energy flow process he becomes a creator of unlimited possibilities of the Universe by way of stillness and neutrality.
