Book Synopsis Life Lived Like a Story by : Julie Cruikshank
Download or read book Life Lived Like a Story written by Julie Cruikshank and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 1992 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There is pure gold here for those who want to understand the rules of the old ways. ... [The book] has a convincing sureness, an intensity which cannot be denied, a strong sense of family. ... Candidly, and often with sly humour, the three women discuss early white-Indian relations, the Klondike gold rush, the epidemics, the starvation, the healthy and wealthy times, and building of the Alaska Highway. ... Integrity is here, and wisdom. There is no doubting the authenticity of the voices. As women, they had power and they used it wisely, and through their words and Cruikshank's skills, you will change your mind if you think the anthropological approach to oral history can only be dull."--Barry Broadfoot, Toronto Globe and Mail.
Book Synopsis The Christian Dreams, Visions, and Prophecy by : R. G. Grey
Download or read book The Christian Dreams, Visions, and Prophecy written by R. G. Grey and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2018-07-09 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please do not let any one turn you into a prophet with there educated head knowledge, the teaching is out there that all Christian can prophesy which is far from the truth-For a person to prophesy mean that you must have the gift to do so because God talk to the prophet and gave him or her messages, and I am not talking about preaching, teaching, evangelism, or comforting. Eph 4:v11 said, And he gave some, apostles, and some prophets, and some, evangelist, and some pastors and teachers. The scripture is very clear that God is the one who put prophets in the church and not man. The message is very clear from Num 12: please do not try to make yourself a prophet, please read the chapter, v6, And the Lord said unto Miriam and Aaron, Hear now my words; If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak to him in a dream. This is the working of the Holy Spirit, a revelation, and not man teaching you how you can prophesy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here Am I, Here Am I By: Johnnie Wayne Jordan For three years Johnnie Wayne Jordan studied the Bible diligently, most days for ten or twelve hours, any time he could find the time. Something had him transfixed—he had to read the Bible, even if it meant missing meal calls. He didn’t understand it at first but was reminded of what David says in the Psalms: “I esteem thy word, O Lord, more than my necessary food.” But God was letting him experience his word. Who was this who interrupted his prayer? Scripture says in Romans 8:26: “Likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the spirit itself maketh intercession for us helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought; but the spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” We don’t know how to pray, but the spirit of Jesus had interceded in his prayer. It was Jesus praying in his stead! Romans 8:16: “The spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God….”

The consequences of the choices we make in life determine which way it will be. We cant control many of lifes events, but we can control how we deal with them. Our responsibility is to build a successful life in a world of confusion, pain, and disorientation. In Choices: Responsible Decisions for a Godly Life, author Dr. Robert F. Kirk explains that each of us is responsible for the outcome of our life. The individual choices we make in life determine what we will become. Kirk discusses the natural and spiritual choices that determine our success or failure, and he recommends the Book of Proverbs as a guide for Godly wisdom to assist us in those decisions. The Book of Proverbs, a powerful book that provides instruction and guidance, instructs us to partner with God in our choices using His wisdom. We dont have to travel the road of life alone. However, we must make our own choices and we need to choose wisely to be successful. Choices: Responsible Decisions for a Godly Life will help you make a plan for wise decisions in your life.

Book Synopsis The Father’S Voice by : Thomas C. Stewart
Download or read book The Father’S Voice written by Thomas C. Stewart and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-11-23 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Anyone watching can see in these latter days that our world is in turmoil. People are restless, uneasy, and not sure about the future, with the failure and unresolve of many of her leaders who are not able, because of political pressure and lack of fortitude, to stand and deliberate as their position of responsibility requires with our social unrest, broken homes, infidelity in relationships, and disrespect among family, community, business, and governmental relationships. The devil himself is doubling his forces, doing all he can to steal, kill, and destroy everything that resembles the right, the righteous, the honest, and the prudent. We can see his influence in the hatred and cruelty of terrorism and the inhumane treatment by certain sects or groups, even religious ones, upon thousands and even millions of innocent people who just want to live peaceably, having their family members maimed, tortured, and even killed, seemingly just for sport. We see armies of religious factions that are recruiting and growing enormously with the express goal to annihilate and eradicate anyone or group that doesnt agree with their particular worship or lifestyle. Add this to the extreme climate changes, tsunamis, storms, earthquakes, global warming, etc., and we can see that our lives and our future are more than uncertain. The Bible asks the question in James 4:1: Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? The answer to this dilemma lies within the truth of God. Jesus stated in John 8:32: You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Herein is the reason for this book. Wherever you find yourself in these last days, please know it is virtually impossible to know the truth and not be free.

Download or read book The Knowable God written by Peter Brain and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2019-06-28 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Knowable God comprises twenty-three self-contained chapters on the key issues raised and the emphases made in John's Gospel. It is not a critical commentary nor a set of devotional meditations; it is rather an exposition of key episodes, characters and themes, always trying to interpret the text for our own time. It centres on the fact that John's controversial distinctiveness is usually missed in Christian worship, teaching and belief. Within the New Testament there are several understandings of Christian faith, of salvation, of the significance of the cross. John gives us his views on all these, plus the headline message that it is the incarnation itself which is our salvation. To understand Christianity we need more than this Gospel - but cannot do without it.

This book was released on 2014-10-26 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is love the place where psychological observation and spiritual wisdom about healing meet? If love is associated with healing of all sorts, how do I more consciously set about to grow in love, seeking healing for myself and for my neighbours, community and world? How do I encourage others in their journeys into love? Drawing on a broad Christian heritage, a deep respect for the insights of other religious and spiritual traditions and two decades of work in welfare and clinical settings, psychologist Sharon Southwell encourages spiritual seekers of all backgrounds to consider these questions for themselves. Structured in 52 Reflections, each followed by 'Invitations', The Life of Love invites you to grow in love by embracing life-giving connection to yourself, to others, your community, to art, nature and to your ultimate context, whether you experience this as God or as some other immanent or transcendent spiritual connection.
