Book Synopsis Building Godly Nations by : Stephen K. McDowell
Download or read book Building Godly Nations written by Stephen K. McDowell and published by Providence Foundation. This book was released on 2004-03 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus commissioned believers to "make disciples of all nations," which, according to Bible Commentator Matthew Henry, means to "do your utmost to make the nations Christian nations." How do we make the nations Christian? How do we build Godly nations? The Bible teaches that if a people obey God's laws they will have liberty, peace, prosperity, and justice. But we must obey all of God's laws to experience the abundance of God's blessing. To the extent we obey in all areas of life, is the extent we will experience the Godly fruit of liberty. The Founders of America understood this vital truth and attempted to build the nation upon the precepts of God, and though not without fault, their efforts produced the best example of a Christian nation in history. Thus there are many important lessons we can learn from the American Founders as we seek to build Godly nations today. This book examines the mandate for building Godly nations, lessons from America's Christian history, and how to apply Biblical principles to governing the nations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tracing the full history of traditionally white college fraternities in America from their days in antebellum all-male schools to the sprawling modern-day college campus, Nicholas Syrett reveals how fraternity brothers have defined masculinity over the course of their 180-year history. Based on extensive research at twelve different schools and analyzing at least twenty national fraternities, The Company He Keeps explores many factors--such as class, religiosity, race, sexuality, athleticism, intelligence, and recklessness--that have contributed to particular versions of fraternal masculinity at different times. Syrett demonstrates the ways that fraternity brothers' masculinity has had consequences for other students on campus as well, emphasizing the exclusion of different groups of classmates and the sexual exploitation of female college students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God Shed His Grace on Thee is a journey through America's past, emphasizing the Christian purposes that compelled explorers and settlers to embrace the perils involved in finding and relocating to its shores. The story continues through the processes of a loosely knit group of colonies uniting to form a nation built upon biblical principles, urged to do so by a determined force of ministers delivering the message of freedom from the pulpit. Evidence is brought to light presenting the proofs that the nation's leadership believed without question that the country was, indeed, a Christian nation. The narrative concludes with the responsibility of believers to carry forward the truth in today's society and the ways that everyone can and should become involved in doing so. The Christian is urged to take their part in the continuing history of this great land-till all success be nobleness, and ev'ry gain divine

Book Synopsis With Christ in the Voting Booth by : David J. Shedlock
Download or read book With Christ in the Voting Booth written by David J. Shedlock and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "With Christ in the Voting Booth is not a dated Voter's Guide that promotes certain candidates and after the election becomes as useful as day-old toast. Instead, Shedlock has written a book that addresses issues that crop up in every election. What if the candidate isn't fully pro-life? What if he or she wants to raise my taxes? What about third parties, or sitting it out altogether?" Governor Mike Huckabee Know who to vote for doesn't always come easy for the Christian. No unambiguous voice from heaven whispers: "This is my candidate, vote for him." Even though almost every candidate in America makes a Christian profession, most of us know some Christians we wouldn't trust with a loaded BB gun, let alone access to the launch button of the world's largest cache of nuclear weapons. Thankfully, God has given us His Word, "The Ultimate Voter's Guide." Using the Bible, With Christ in the Voting Booth provides us tools to resist Government Too Small and Government Too Big, while embracing Government Just Right, not based on false promises and "Christian" utopian fantasies, but rather the most important political success story of all: The Voter (and Governor) Who Pleases God. David Shedlock graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri and received his Master's Degree in English as a Second Language from Minnesota State University (Mankato). He is a leading contributor and assistant editor to the blog, Caffeinated Thoughts and its companion site Caffeinated Theology. He has been a member of Trinity Presbyterian Reformed Church in Johnston, Iowa, since 1996. He and his wife, Judy, have five children and 16 grandchildren. Book Synopsis Defining America’S Exceptionalism by : Roger Anghis
Download or read book Defining America’S Exceptionalism written by Roger Anghis and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2012-08-30 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many pastors I have spoken with have no problem with the so-called separation of church and state and have even told me that it was in our Constitution. Because we no longer teach our Constitution in our schools and we, the pastors, do not teach the importance of who we are and where we came from, we have come to the point where we believe what we are told by academia concerning our Founding Fathers and the Constitution and have been led down a path of falsehoods and deception. It has been long said that if we forget who we are and where we came from, we will not know who we are or where we are going. There are many forces out there determined to remove all vestiges of our religious history. Our Founding Fathers knew that there was to be involvement by the church and allowed the influence of Christianity to be prevalent. The only separation of church and state that the founders wanted was an institutional separation. They designed our Constitution so that the government would have no say whatsoever in the exercise of religion by the people. Todays government has turned that around 180 degrees and is now using what used to guarantee freedom of religion to the removal of religion from the public square. Will we let it continue? It is now the choice of We the People.
