Book excerpt: This is the updated version of Lets Talk About Child to Parent Violence to recognise that Childhood Challenging, Violent or Aggressive Behaviour (CCVAB) in the home involves more than parents. CCVAB affects everyone in the home, children as well as any other adult. Childhood Challenging Violent or Aggressive behaviour in the home is gaining wider recognition across society leading to an 'opening up' of the lives of families but in the real world little has changed for families. This book is relevant to professionals and parent/carers or those who want to gain a better understanding of Childhood Challenging, Violent or Aggressive Behaviour (CCVAB). CCVAB can be diagnosed as a cognitive disorder identified by the World Health Organisation as a 'Conduct Disorder within the context of the family' yet this diagnosis has not been used for children so far. CCVAB is most usually thought of as Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (APVA) but this overlooks the age when most CCVAB starts - at the age of 6-9 years. For families this means they are left unsupported until children reach adolescence when the behaviour has escalated and become entrenched, something that could have been prevented had earlier recognition been made. Childhood Challenging, Violent or Aggressive Behaviour (CCVAB) is an umbrella term for a range of acronyms previously used to identify children's challenging, violent or aggressive behaviour in the home. Previous acronyms such as CPVA or APVA focus on violence and abuse towards the parent themselves yet evidence repeatedly shows this is not always the case and sibling abuse or property destruction can also happen. We look to open up understanding and highlight how listening to families is the first step of developing support for these families and remove preconceived views about who these families and children are. We consider CCVAB against new information about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), children with Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND), Neurological development and Learning Difficulties to bring attention to the many ways that Childhood Challenging, Violent or Aggressive Behaviour can happen. This book looks at what is known and what is emerging to help provide better understanding. the impact on families living with CCVAB is immense, by including parents views these families explain what living with CCVAB is for them in the real world and how little support is available to them and their family

Book excerpt: An ordinary day in an ordinary neighborhood turns out to be quite extraordinary in this moving story about the circle of life. It’s an average day in the neighborhood—children play, roses are watered, and a crow watches over it all. But then two visitors arrive at two houses, one to help a family say hello to a new baby and one to help a family say goodbye to a beloved pet. This sensitive picture book takes a gentle look at life, death, the bonds of family, and the extraordinary moments that make ordinary days so special.

The novel follows the families through their everyday normal lives until they enter the hospital. We follow the events and conditions that led up to the scenes that these people were forced to witness. Some people migrated to this country for a better life. Some were born and raised in the shadow of Grissom Hospital The novel examines the workings of a major hospital, the everyday events and the facts that caused the disaster; it also takes into account the people who gave their lives trying to save others. They were people from other countries, those confined, visitors and those people who worked there. Much is learned there as a result of the fire and the novel and those that are now keeping them safe. The author hopes that he has contributed to the enlightenment of those people that enter the hospitals and those that are charged with keeping them safe. The claim man who handled this loss was driving home from work when he learned that Grissom Hospital was on fire over the radio. He knew that his company insured the hospital so he made a u turn and went there. He found that the sixth floor was in flames so he was there from the very beginning.

At eighteen she graduated at the top of her class and was accepted to the University of Los Angeles. Her dad wanted her to stay closer to New York, but her mom insisted she go to LA. Were her mother's intentions genuine or did Maree's mom quickly ship her off to hide a secret? The night before she left for LA, she was hanging out with her friends, not knowing that what was about to happen to her would change her life. Now Maree had to learn how to forgive, and to understand the depth of forgiveness.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Triumphant wins, gut-wrenching losses, last-second shots, underdogs, competition, and loyalty—it’s fun to be a fan. But when a football player takes a hit to the head after yet another study has warned of the dangers of CTE, or when a team whose mascot was born in an era of racism and bigotry takes the field, or when a relief pitcher accused of domestic violence saves the game, how is one to cheer? Welcome to the club for sports fans who care too much. In Loving Sports When They Don’t Love You Back, acclaimed sports writers Jessica Luther and Kavitha A. Davidson tackle the most pressing issues in sports, why they matter, and how we can do better. For the authors, “sticking to sports” is not an option—not when our taxes are paying for the stadiums, and college athletes aren’t getting paid at all. But simply quitting a favorite team won’t change corrupt and deplorable practices, and the root causes of many of these problems are endemic in our wider society. An essential read for modern fans, Loving Sports When They Don’t Love You Back challenges the status quo and explores how we might begin to reconcile our conscience with our fandom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: English This is a raw and pragmatic story book of poems in English and Tongan. It is not a critique of where I have been or of those I have been lucky to meet. It is not a literary work demonstrating poetic acumen. It is merely a chronicle of the thought flashes in response to life situations. These are just snippets of the demons and angels that keep this overseas student learning from day to day without being absorbed into host norms while in diaspora. Its the fluctuations to stay afloat and faithful to ones birth and heritage. They have been recorded between books, laughter, and tears. Some of the experiences were frustrating and some choices tormenting. But in the end, there were always challenges, learning and good times. The poems were conceived out of life that now seems too foreign to be me. It is now delivered to all those who made that portion of my life, and to the students who will continue to leave home to seek education in a foreign environment.
