Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lets Get Down to Basics was originally written as curriculum for a class for new Christians or people who were new to the church and to the particular viewpoint of Wesleyan-Arminiam theology. It has thirteen chapters and each chapter has review questions at the end with the answers at the end of the book, making it excellent for a class, for a personal review or for someone who wants to investigate the basics of Christianity on their own. The book does not criticize any other religions or branches of Christianity, but is an attempt to lift up basics of the faith that are common to all Christians. There are some chapters that are particular to the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) or to the Wesleyan-Arminian believers, but it is not written in a way that criticizes those who believe differently and might be helpful to those of other traditions so they understand beliefs from this point of view. Chapters that fall into this category include Chapter 7 The Second Step (the doctrine of sanctification as a second definite work of grace) and Chapter 9 Develop a Lifestyle of Holiness (aiming for the goal of a holy lifestyle. Chapter 11 Signs of the Times in the Christian Life (explains ordinances of the church, including baptism and communion, two almost universal teachings of Christianity, and footwashing, which is practiced by only a few church groups. Chapter 13 The Last Chapter deals with the end times from an amillenial eschatological perspective. Even if this is not your theological view, it might be helpful for you to understand end times teaching as viewed from the amillenial perspective.

This book was released on 2016-11-18 with total page 1893 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the pen of TERRY HAYWARD, himself a retired criminal attorney who practised law in South Africa during the apartheid years. An avid wildlife conservationist, Terry has fictionalised a number of his most notorious cases and has linked them to the blight of poaching sweeping the continent of Africa. The result is almost 2,000 pages of non-stop action, adventure, drama and mystery from the court-room to crowded high-rise cities and to the rural remoteness of the African bushveld. In the latest work in the series, THE HANGING TREE, sees lawyer Jack Delaney, and his six-foot-seven Zulu sidekick Moses Dlamini (pronounced Shla-mee-nee), known as the Refrigerator, called in to investigate a kidnapping, in reality a lever to bribe the owners of a game reserve to sell. In turn, it becomes the catalyst in a host of actions and re-actions leading to unexpected alliances, coupled with violence, murder and confrontations with law - not to mention lions, elephants and crocodiles in the wild. Terry has always been perturbed that most books that end up becoming best-sellers nowadays seem to be judged by the amount of foul language and sexual activity which can be incorporated into the story. The Jack Delaney chronicles are his contribution to writing a really good yarn without having to resort to such ruses. There is one more book in the series still in the pipeline which Terry hopes to get to Abela Publishing within the next month or so. 10% of the Authors royalty will be donated to WILDLIFE ACT, a conservation charity in KZN (KwaZulu-Natal), South Africa. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past few centuries, as Western civilization has enjoyed an expansive and flexible geographic domain, Westerners have observed other cultures with little interest in a return gaze. In turn, these other civilizations have been similarly disinclined when they have held sway. Clearly, though, an external frame of reference outstrips introspection—we cannot see ourselves as others see us. Unprecedented in its scope, What the Rest Think of the West provides a rich historical look through the eyes of outsiders as they survey and scrutinize the politics, science, technology, religion, family practices, and gender roles of civilizations not their own. The book emphasizes the broader figurative meaning of looking west in the scope of history. Focusing on four civilizations—Islamic, Japanese, Chinese, and South Asian—Nader has collected observations made over centuries by scholars, diplomats, missionaries, travelers, merchants, and students reflecting upon their own “Wests.” These writings derive from a range of purposes and perspectives, such as the seventh-century Chinese Buddhist who goes west to India, the missionary from Baghdad who travels up the Volga in the tenth century and meets the Vikings, and the Egyptian imam who in 1826 is sent to Paris to study the French. The accounts variously express critique, adoration, admiration, and fear, and are sometimes humorous, occasionally disturbing, at times controversial, and always enlightening. With informative introductions to each of the selections, Laura Nader initiates conversations about the power of representational practices.
