Download or read book Sing! written by Keith Getty and published by B&H Publishing Group. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sing! has grown from Keith and Kristyn Getty’s passion for congregational singing; it’s been formed by their traveling and playing and listening and discussing and learning and teaching all over the world. And in writing it, they have five key aims: • to discover why we sing and the overwhelming joy and holy privilege that comes with singing • to consider how singing impacts our hearts and minds and all of our lives • to cultivate a culture of family singing in our daily home life • to equip our churches for wholeheartedly singing to the Lord and one another as an expression of unity • to inspire us to see congregational singing as a radical witness to the world They have also added a few “bonus tracks” at the end with some more practical suggestions for different groups who are more deeply involved with church singing. God intends for this compelling vision of His people singing—a people joyfully joining together in song with brothers and sisters around the world and around his heavenly throne—to include you. He wants you,he wants us, to sing.

As a Royal Priest under the New Covenant you have a ministry; to continually minister to the Fathers heart. This is something King David learnt very early in his life; opening his heart and expressing his love became a lifestyle to him. In Lifestyle Worship you learn the same principles King David applied to his life; his worship was based on intimacy not ceremony, he lived his life to love God first and foremost and not only to serve Him. You will discover: - The various Hebrew expressions of Praise - The power of thanksgiving - A working definition of worship - A personal lifestyle of worship - How to touch the heart of God - Restore peace to your life as you minister to the Fathers heart - The person God created you to be. Lifestyle worship has been written in a workbook format, giving you time to ponder and reflect, as well as allow God the opportunity to speak into your life in a personal way. You will find a new sense of freedom in Christ where worship will no longer be confined to a Sunday service, but a daily rejoicing in Christ your Lord and Saviour. Among the wonderful, heady Theology, it became quickly evident that it was the calling on his life, to guide his students into a deep and familiar relationship with Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Orlando has my everlasting gratitude for the things he has taught me, for the revelations he has guided me through and for the realization of the freedom I now enjoy in worship. Kaye Kelly, student Brisbane Faith College International.
Book Synopsis The Invention of Celebrity by : Antoine Lilti
Download or read book The Invention of Celebrity written by Antoine Lilti and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frequently perceived as a characteristic of modern culture, the phenomenon of celebrity has much older roots. In this book Antoine Lilti shows that the mechanisms of celebrity were developed in Europe during the Enlightenment, well before films, yellow journalism, and television, and then flourished during the Romantic period on both sides of the Atlantic. Figures from across the arts like Voltaire, Garrick, and Liszt were all veritable celebrities in their time, arousing curiosity and passionate loyalty from their “fans.” The rise of the press, new advertising techniques, and the marketing of leisure brought a profound transformation in the visibility of celebrities: private lives were now very much on public show. Nor was politics spared this cultural upheaval: Marie-Antoinette, George Washington, and Napoleon all experienced a political world transformed by the new demands of celebrity. And when the people suddenly appeared on the revolutionary scene, it was no longer enough to be legitimate; it was crucial to be popular too. Lilti retraces the profound social upheaval precipitated by the rise of celebrity and explores the ambivalence felt toward this new phenomenon. Both sought after and denounced, celebrity evolved as the modern form of personal prestige, assuming the role that glory played in the aristocratic world in a new age of democracy and evolving forms of media. While uncovering the birth of celebrity in the eighteenth century, Lilti's perceptive history at the same time shines light on the continuing importance of this phenomenon in today’s world.
