Book Synopsis Camouflage of Fixed Installations by : United States. Department of the Army
Download or read book Camouflage of Fixed Installations written by United States. Department of the Army and published by Fredonia Books (NL). This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual, originally published in 1958, covers methods of camouflaging fixed installations such as airfields, supply facilities, transportation facilities, buildings, and other objects and installations of a permanent or semipermanent nature. The material presented herein is applicable to nuclear and non-nuclear warfare. The basic principles of camouflage, factors of recognition, construction methods, and the geographic factors effecting camouflage are applicable to the camouflage of fixed installations, the primary difference being larger and more detailed camouflage construction of a more permanent nature. Terms used in this manual are general. For example, the camouflage of buildings is described in general terms to include all types of buildings regardless of their use or purpose, because the use or function of the installation being camouflaged has only an indirect bearing on the type of camouflage except where a specific problem is presented. When planning camouflage for a specific building the activity occupying the building will, in many instances, dictate changes in the application of camouflage. In the same way the surrounding terrain will have a direct bearing on the type of camouflage used. The camouflage of areas, concentration of activities, and emplacements for active defense are also described in general terms. Consequently it will be necessary for the camouflage planner to assemble the necessary information from this text to guide him in the designing of camouflage for a specific combination of buildings, areas, or emplacements. CONTENTS: Large Scale Camouflage Planning Introduction Camouflage Planning Camouflage Operations Camouflage Methods and Construction Methods Rear Area Installations Maintenance Index
Book Synopsis How to Hide: the U. S. Army Field Manual on Camouflage, Concealment and Decoys by : U.S. Army Field Manual
Download or read book How to Hide: the U. S. Army Field Manual on Camouflage, Concealment and Decoys written by U.S. Army Field Manual and published by . This book was released on 2010-03-27 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to Hide will teach you the same concealment lessons U.S. soldiers learn: how to use camouflage during battle, how to employ decoys to defend yourself, how to overcome the enemy's concealment techniques, when to use concealment (and when not to), and the many subtle and important principles covered by this important discipline. This Army field manual was originally written to educate field commanders in these arts; now it has been released to all personnel and the public. Camouflage, concealment, and decoy techniques are useful for wargamers, hunters, scouts, campers, and anyone interested in wilderness survival. At the very least, if you engage in one of these activities, and you want to know how to hide or how to find others who are hiding, you should assume that others will know the principles explained in this book--and read and learn them yourself.

Book excerpt: Nameless may not like David Virden, but the case is simple enough: find his ex-wife—and they know where she is. Deliver some papers to her and it's all done. But she refuses the papers, sends a message to Virden to never contact her again, and slams the door. His colleague, Tamara, tells Nameless that Virden threatens to sue, stops payment on his checks, and claims that the woman they located isn't his wife. Then he disappears and his fiancée hires Nameless to find out why. Clearly, someone is trying to make Nameless the monkey in the middle. The investigation that Nameless's partner, Jake Runyon, has to undertake is personal...and urgent. His girlfriend Bryn's son, a pawn in a bitter divorce settlement, is being beaten and every indication is that his father is responsible. Is he bitter enough to take out his frustrations on a young boy, to fracture his arm? Then events turn on Jake: a dead woman, a bloodied Bryn, and a scared and silent child force him to look in other, darker, more deadly directions.
