This book was released on 2003 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exploratory study examines the participation of women's groups in regional planning of health and social services in Quebec with the purpose of identifying problems and successes in their relations with regional health and social services boards (RHSSBs). The report begins with a description of the commitments with respect to the status of women included in regional services organization plans for the 1998-2002 period, and the organizational structure introduced by the RHSSBs to ensure implementation of these commitments. It then presents a descriptive-comparative analysis of the situation in 4 regions in order to contrast the intra-regional dynamics and to identify indices with respect to the observed differences in the planning and programming of services and in the interactions of RHSSBs with women's groups. The report concludes with recommendations for promoting gender equality in regional health and social services planning.

Book Synopsis Handbook on the Geographies of Innovation by : Richard Shearmur
Download or read book Handbook on the Geographies of Innovation written by Richard Shearmur and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2016-11-25 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The geography of innovation is changing. Firstly, it is increasingly understood that innovative firms and organizations exhibit a wide variety of strategies, each differently attuned to diverse geographic contexts. Secondly, and concomitantly, the idea that cities, clusters and physical proximity are essential for innovation is evolving under the weight of new theorizing and empirical evidence. The aim of this handbook is to break with the many ideas and concepts that emerged during the course of the 1980s and 1990s, and to fully take into account the new reality of the internet, mobile communication technologies, personal mobility and globalization. The handbook gathers a new generation of ideas and authors to contribute to the debate, providing an empirically grounded critical appraisal of the prevailing knowledge on the geography of innovation. The 28 original chapters, written by a diverse range of scholars with widely differing views, present fresh empirical evidence and new perspectives relating to how innovation plays out across space in an age where mobility has increased, information is ubiquitous and globalisation has been realised. Overall, the dialogue between existing theory and new possibilities provides a unique and challenging appraisal of the connection between innovation, agglomeration and space. Offering cutting edge ideas in an accessible format, this will be an ideal resource for students and scholars of economic geography and innovation studies. The empirical evidence and analysis will also be of great value for policymakers and government officials. Contributors include:B.T. Asheim, H.W. Aslesen, A. Bain, P.-A. Balland, N. Bradford, A. Book Synopsis PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN by : David HouŽto
Download or read book PROMOTION DE LA SANTE ET AUTONOMISATION DANS LE CONTEXTE AFRICAIN written by David HouŽto and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Cultural Commons by : Enrico Eraldo Bertacchini
Download or read book Cultural Commons written by Enrico Eraldo Bertacchini and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The concept of the commons as a shared resource capable of yielding collective benefits to people is a well-established one in the social sciences, but its extension to jointly-owned cultural resources is relatively new. This pioneering book explores the idea of a cultural commons as it can be applied in a wide range of areas, including landscapes, art and design, gastronomy, heritage, the performing arts and the online world. Although the book's chapters are written mainly from the perspective of cultural economics, the scope of the volume is truly interdisciplinary. the book is more than just a comprehensive introduction to the topic. It is also a source of original ideas that will act as a stimulus to further research in the field.' – David Throsby, Macquarie University, Australia This compelling book offers a fresh and novel approach to study cultural and artistic expression from the perspective of 'the commons'. It demonstrates how identifying cultures as shared resources is useful in eliciting the main factors and social dilemmas affecting the production and evolution of cultural expression. Adopting the unifying perspective of 'the cultural commons', the chapters provide in-depth analysis of a wide range of cultural resources, including traditional cultural expression, heritage, gastronomy and cultural content in virtual worlds. Taking an interdisciplinary perspective and gathering contributions from economic, sociological and legal fields, this timely book proposes a new and complementary research agenda. Scholars and postgraduate students of cultural economics, cultural studies, and sociology of culture will find this authoritative and essential book invaluable.
