En évitant tout essentialisme identitaire et en se basant sur un solide corpus ethnographique collecté en Guyane et en Polynésie française, cet ouvrage vise à démontrer que l'origine de ces difficultés n'est pas à chercher dans des supposés obstacles culturels aux apprentissages mais plutôt dans des obstacles structurels et idéologiques enracinés dans l'histoire coloniale et postcoloniale de ces territoires. Comment s'organise-t-elle l'éducation au sein des communautés autochtones de l'outre-mer français ? Est-elle compatible avec la scolarisation républicaine ? Quelles politiques publiques peut-on envisager pour garantir l'inclusion des peuples natifs dans le système éducatif national ? Cet ouvrage veut répondre à ces questions d'une très grande actualité en présentant une analyse anthropologique de l'éducation chez deux peuples natifs : les Wayana-Apalaï, dans le secteur amazonien de la Guyane, et les Enata, dans l'archipel des Marquises, en Polynésie française. A partir des données recueillies grâce à un travail ethnographique de longue durée, l'auteur présente ici une analyse systématique de l'activité éducative en milieu domestique dans les deux communautés : la parentalité, les interactions entre pairs, le rôle de la famille élargie, les attitudes envers l'école. Cette comparaison montre que, mutatis mutandis, les stratégies éducatives desdits autochtones de la République ont été modelées par les contraintes propres à la dynamique postcoloniale et aux impératifs imposés par l'économie de marché, amplifiés par l'éloignement par rapport aux centres de décision et par l'isolement géographique. Ces communautés avec une forte identité culturelle essayent encore aujourd'hui de s'adapter à un système scolaire qui reste, par son caractère ultramarin, périphérique et marginalisé, miné par des infrastructures défaillantes et par des logiques centralistes (et ethnocentriques). Family law, with its civil law tradition, and strong roots in the national cultures of the Member States, does not normally fall within the scope of European law. However, it is no longer possible to argue that family law is outside European law entirely. There are many aspects of the family which are subject to European influence, to the point that the outlines of a «European family» are starting to emerge. This book is intended to highlight the European experience of family law and its substantive (i.e. European citizenship, EU social policy, EU civil service...) and private international law aspects. Union law therefore contains a form of «special» family law which is shared between the Member States and supplements their national family laws. Its theoretical and political importance in the Union, as well as its future, are discussed by the authors. Far from remaining fragmented alongside the national laws of Member States, it will likely develop to offer European citizens and residents a common family law within the EU.
