Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on Physiology, Hygiene, for Hospital and Home Nursing The following lectures were delivered in connection with the S. John's Ambulance Society, and it is at the urgent request of many members of my class that I have consented to publish them. I have taken the opportunity of enlarging them, and of giving a fuller description of the more impor tant points of physiology than was possible in the space of time then allotted to me. There is no doubt that an intelligent understanding of the anatomy and the functions of the human body, enables a nurse to do her work in a much more satisfactory manner than if she is ignorant of the chief laws by which the body is governed. I trust therefore that these pages may be of some little value in refreshing the memory of those who have already studied the subject, and in helping those who have not had the opportunity of so doing.
