Book excerpt: The truth of God is learned through the conscience; this is why the most brilliant men can read the Bible through over and over and never hear the voice of God in it at all. It has been said that “what is one man's meat is another man's poison.” The very Word of God may become poison to an unspiritual man if he reads it without being in subjection to God-reads it to find difficulties-and arises from its perusal more confirmed in his unbelief than he was when he sat down to consider it. The results are different when the same book is put into the hands of a spiritually-minded person-one who has bowed in God's presence, acknowledged his lost condition, trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior, and who is now seeking to live in obedience to God and His Word. That man sits down to the same book and finds it to be food for his soul, building him up in his faith.

Written in the same highly engaging half dramatization, half Bible teaching format as Agents of the Apocalypse, Agents of Babylon is not only an in-depth exploration of the characters and prophecies contained in the book of Daniel but also a dramatic retelling of Scripture that is sure to bring ancient prophecy to light like never before.

Book excerpt: The NIV Application Commentary helps you communicate and apply biblical text effectively in today's context. To bring the ancient messages of the Bible into today's world, each passage is treated in three sections: Original Meaning. Concise exegesis to help readers understand the original meaning of the biblical text in its historical, literary, and cultural context. Bridging Contexts. A bridge between the world of the Bible and the world of today, built by discerning what is timeless in the timely pages of the Bible. Contemporary Significance. This section identifies comparable situations to those faced in the Bible and explores relevant application of the biblical messages. The author alerts the readers of problems they may encounter when seeking to apply the passage and helps them think through the issues involved. This unique, award-winning commentary is the ideal resource for today's preachers, teachers, and serious students of the Bible, giving them the tools, ideas, and insights they need to communicate God's Word with the same powerful impact it had when it was first written.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the climax of God’s revelation of His will to a lost world, and given through the greatest mind of all times. What a blessing it has been to my soul, these studies, made on our tour clear around the world. I studied it night and day. It was my meditation on land and sea. Whether in the snow-capped majestic Alps or in the desert sands of Arabia, whether in the storms of the Atlantic, or in the quiet calm of the “Pacific, my soul fairly rejoiced in this the greatest, the highest mountain peak of divine revelation. Often I would bow my head in humiliation, confess my sins, that I would ever complain or hesitate one second’s time to proclaim the gospel of the Son of God. I could wish I could roll back the hands of time and begin once more the simple ministry of an earnest country preacher.
Book Synopsis Lectures on the Prophet Daniel by : H. A Ironside
Download or read book Lectures on the Prophet Daniel written by H. A Ironside and published by . This book was released on 2017-10-29 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE substance of the exposition in the following pages was first delivered in the form of lectures, at which time shorthand notes were taken which have been revised since, and considerably altered by the writer.Much matter too has been eliminated to reduce the volume, which might have been too large, and thus wearisome to many readers. It is hoped that enough has been retained to give a clear and succinct outline of the teaching of the book of Daniel. By referring from time to time to the chart accompanying the book, the lectures will be considerably simplified.Critical questions such as authenticity and authorship have not been gone into here, though the present writer has carefully examined practically all that has been urged against receiving this portion of the Holy Scriptures as being in very deed a part of the inspired word of God. If any reader has doubts or difficulties on these lines he is referred to the erudite and able expositions and examinations of W. Kelly, Sir Robert Anderson and Dr. Pusey. With the prayer that God may be pleased to use this little book to stir up His own people to more devotion to Himself, a more ardent longing for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together unto Him, and to the arousing of any who are still in their sins, these lectures are committed to Him who alone can apply them to heart and conscience.

Book Synopsis Daniel: Evangelical Exegetical Commentary by : J. Paul Tanner
Download or read book Daniel: Evangelical Exegetical Commentary written by J. Paul Tanner and published by EEC. This book was released on 2021-02-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume from the Evangelical Exegetical Commentary, Paul Tanner argues that the book of Daniel is the Old Testament blueprint of the Bible's overarching eschatological narrative. Tanner examines key aspects of the book of Daniel such as the revelation of Israel's future in relation to gentile kingdoms, God's exaltation of Daniel as a channel through whom he reveals his will and God's sovereign control of the nations under whom Israel is being disciplined. Tanner provides exegetical insight to help readers better understand not only how God worked in Israel's history through Daniel, but how he sovereignly directs all of world history--for all time.
