Book Synopsis Stochastic Processes, Physics and Geometry: New Interplays. II by : Sergio Albeverio
Download or read book Stochastic Processes, Physics and Geometry: New Interplays. II written by Sergio Albeverio and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume and Stochastic Processes, Physics and Geometry: New Interplays I present state-of-the-art research currently unfolding at the interface between mathematics and physics. Included are select articles from the international conference held in Leipzig (Germany) in honor of Sergio Albeverio's sixtieth birthday. The theme of the conference, "Infinite Dimensional (Stochastic) Analysis and Quantum Physics", was chosen to reflect Albeverio's wide-ranging scientific interests. The articles in these books reflect that broad range of interests and provide a detailed overview highlighting the deep interplay among stochastic processes, mathematical physics, and geometry. The contributions are written by internationally recognized experts in the fields of stochastic analysis, linear and nonlinear (deterministic and stochastic) PDEs, infinite dimensional analysis, functional analysis, commutative and noncommutative probability theory, integrable systems, quantum and statistical mechanics, geometric quantization, and neural networks. Also included are applications in biology and other areas. Most of the contributions are high-level research papers. However, there are also some overviews on topics of general interest. The articles selected for publication in these volumes were specifically chosen to introduce readers to advanced topics, to emphasize interdisciplinary connections, and to stress future research directions. Volume I contains contributions from invited speakers; Volume II contains additional contributed papers. Members of the Canadian Mathematical Society may order at the AMS member price.

Download or read book First Summer School in Analysis and Mathematical Physics written by Salvador Pérez-Esteva and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first Summer School of Analysis and Mathematical Physics of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Cuernavaca) offered graduate and advanced undergraduate students courses on modern topics in the overlap between analysis and physics. This volume contains the expanded notes from the lectures by Brian Hall, Alejandro Uribe, and David Borthwick. The articles introduce readers to mathematical methods of classical and quantum mechanics and the link between these two theories: quantization and semiclassical analysis. Hall writes about holomorphic methods in analysis and mathematical physics and includes exercises. Uribe's lectures covered trace formulae, in particular asymptotic behavior and the relationship between the asymptotics and the geometric properties of the classical system. Borthwick presents an introduction to Kähler quantization, including the moment map, the orbit method, and symmetry and reduction. The exposition in the entire volume is geared to introducing graduate students with a basic knowledge of mathematics into areas of active research. This volume is a joint publication of the American Mathematical Society and the Sociedad Matematica Mexicana. Members of the SMM may order directly from the AMS at the AMS member price.

Book Synopsis Quantum Probability And Infinite Dimensional Analysis - Proceedings Of The 26th Conference by : Luigi Accardi
Download or read book Quantum Probability And Infinite Dimensional Analysis - Proceedings Of The 26th Conference written by Luigi Accardi and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007-07-12 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the latest results in the fields of quantum probability and infinite dimensional analysis. The contributions range from classical probability, 'pure' functional analysis and foundations of quantum mechanics to applications in mathematical physics, quantum information theory and modern mathematical finance. This diversity illustrates that research in quantum probability and infinite dimensional analysis is very active and strongly involved in modern mathematical developments and applications.

Book Synopsis Perspectives on Quantization by : Lewis A. Coburn
Download or read book Perspectives on Quantization written by Lewis A. Coburn and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1998 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the proceedings of a 1996 Joint Summer Research Conference sponsored by AMS-IMS-SIAM on "Quantization" held at Mount Holyoke College (Northampton, MA). The purpose of this conference was to bring together researchers focusing on various mathematical aspects of quantization. In the early work of Weyl and von Neumann at the beginning of the quantum era, the setting for this enterprise was operators on Hilbert space. This setting has been expanded, especially over the past decade, to involve C*-algebras - noncommutative differential geometry and noncommutative harmonic analysis - as well as more general algebras and infinite-dimensional manifolds. The applications now include quantum field theory, notable conformal and topological field theories related to quantization of moduli spaces, and constructive quantum field theory of supersymmetric models and condensed matter physics (the fractional quantum Hall effect in particular). The spectrum of research interests which significantly intersects the topic of quantization is unusually broad including, for example, pseudodifferential analysis, the representation theory of Lie groups and algebras (including infinite-dimensional ones), operator algebras and algebraic deformation theory. The papers in this collection originated with talks by the authors at the conference and represent a strong cross-section of the interests described above.
Book Synopsis Theta Functions and Knots by : R?zvan Gelca
Download or read book Theta Functions and Knots written by R?zvan Gelca and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2014 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the relationship between classical theta functions and knots. It is based on a novel idea of Razvan Gelca and Alejandro Uribe, which converts Weil''s representation of the Heisenberg group on theta functions to a knot theoretical framework, by giving a topological interpretation to a certain induced representation. It also explains how the discrete Fourier transform can be related to 3- and 4-dimensional topology. Theta Functions and Knots can be read in two perspectives. People with an interest in theta functions or knot theory can learn how the two are related. Those interested in ChernOCoSimons theory find here an introduction using the simplest case, that of abelian ChernOCoSimons theory. Moreover, the construction of abelian ChernOCoSimons theory is based entirely on quantum mechanics, and not on quantum field theory as it is usually done. Both the theory of theta functions and low dimensional topology are presented in detail, in order to underline how deep the connection between these two fundamental mathematical subjects is. Hence the book is a self-contained, unified presentation. It is suitable for an advanced graduate course, as well as for self-study. Contents: Some Historical Facts; A Quantum Mechanical Prototype; Surfaces and Curves; The Theta Functions Associated to a Riemann Surface; From Theta Functions to Knots; Some Results About 3- and 4-Dimensional Manifolds; The Discrete Fourier Transform and Topological Quantum Field Theory; Theta Functions and Quantum Groups; An Epilogue OCo Abelian ChernOCoSimons Theory. Readership: Graduate students and young researchers with an interest in complex analysis, mathematical physics, algebra geometry and low dimensional topology.
