Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although much has been written about P-12 teaching from a biblical perspective, this study focuses on Christ's relationships with a diverse group of individuals: wealthy and poor, women and men, unschooled and well-educated, loud and quiet, influential and powerless, those whom Jesus knew well and those who were strangers to him, those of his own faith and culture as well as those outside of it. These individuals are remarkably similar to the students we teach in our public and private school classrooms today. Each interaction between Jesus and an individual focuses on what we can learn from the student and Jesus as well as what we, as teachers, can apply in our profession. As in our own practice, some students learned their lessons well; others failed. For some, we are uncertain when or if they achieved Jesus' objective for them. Whether we are novices or experienced educators, we can learn through these instructive relationships how to be teachers who follow Jesus' example in seeing our students' potential, holistically caring for them, and ultimately having a positive impact on their lives. Through exploring these biblical relationships, we can gain a better understanding of how to teach like Christ's disciple.

Book Synopsis Learning To Be A Disciple by : Luella Campbell
Download or read book Learning To Be A Disciple written by Luella Campbell and published by Book Venture Publishing LLC. This book was released on 2017-08-04 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discipleship and sonship are intimately connected Jesus was a Son to His Father and a rabbi to His disciples. His goal was to teach His disciples how to be sons by introducing them to the Father and calling them to follow Him and imitate Him as God’s beloved Son. They were to be His replicas on earth, training others to follow Him. Jesus was a Jew, born and raised in the Jewish language and culture of His day. Out of this richness He invited and trained uneducated men to take His yoke, learn from Him and go into the world to set people free from their yokes of bondage. Westernization has obscured the Biblical meaning of discipleship and pawned believers who have lost the truth and simplicity of following Jesus. The church has been fragmented by theology and tradition instead of being united by the Spirit of Jesus. Jesus stripped Judaism of its impositions by taking people back to the Torah and explaining what God meant, not what rabbis imposed on it. This book is an attempt to re-introduce believers to Jesus’s yoke by teaching them to embrace the spirit of Torah, which reflects, not rules or religion but mercy, based on the love of the Father.

Book Synopsis Be a Disciple, Make a Disciple by : Ellie M Littleton
Download or read book Be a Disciple, Make a Disciple written by Ellie M Littleton and published by . This book was released on 2019-04-22 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twenty-first century Church has the same Holy Spirit power and many more modern-day resources than the first century Church, yet the first century Church had greater success in making disciples. Why? They followed the plan Jesus gave them, and He blessed it. But the more worldly progress we've made, the more we've deviated from Jesus's plan by choosing programs, entertainment, and socials with only surface-level encounters. We neglect to make a connection with the lost, and they see no real commitment from the church. So they come and go as we continue to meet and plan more programs. To end the cycle, we must go and make disciples as Jesus taught--investing our lives in the lives of others. Do you long to live the Great Commission and make disciples, but you're not sure how? In Be a Disciple, Make a Disciple, Ellie Littleton offers biblical examples and concepts that break down the hard work of discipleship into sixteen thought-provoking lessons. So go and make disciples. "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples" (John 15:8 niv). "As the Lord's earthly ministry got under way, He began by making disciples and never stopped until He ascended into heaven. Had the disciples not followed His example, we would not be disciples of Jesus today. As Ellie's pastor, I've seen her live out the principles she teaches in this book. I highly recommend this book to all Christians, so we can all follow Jesus's command to make disciples." --Rev. David Warren, South Shelby Baptist Church, Shelby, Alabama
Download or read book That You May Know written by Jacob Gerber and published by 19baskets, Incorporated. This book was released on 2014-10-02 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While there are many books written about Christian discipleship, there are not nearly enough books on discipleship that primarily expound the Bible itself. The Apostle John wrote three letters, however, with the main purpose of helping disciples to grow. That You May Know: A Primer on Christian Discipleship is an enriching study that will lead you through John's teaching on following Jesus as a disciple. This book is more than a commentary and more than a topical book on the subject of Christian discipleship. Instead, this is a primer on Christian discipleship written as a careful reading of God's word in 1, 2 & 3 John. It's ideal for your own individual devotional reading or as a helpful resource for your group Bible study. What others are saying about That You May Know: "Whether you are a new believer or a seasoned saint, you will benefit greatly from reading this book. It does exactly what a Bible commentary should do--enlighten, encourage, and enrich--and it does so in a manner that is clear, wise, and practical." --Warren W. Wiersbe, Former Pastor of the Moody Church, Chicago, IL "Pastor Gerber marries thorough exegetical study with a loving pastoral tone in this very helpful primer on discipleship. He carries the reader along with him to a deeper understanding of the word of God, the promises God makes to his children, and what it means to be a disciples of Jesus." --Parker Johnson, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Brewton, AL

Book Synopsis The Lost Art of Disciple Making by : LeRoy Eims
Download or read book The Lost Art of Disciple Making written by LeRoy Eims and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-07-13 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Every believer in Jesus Christ deserves the opportunity of personal nurture and development." says LeRoy Eims. But all too often the opportunity isn't there. We neglect the young Christian in our whirl of programs, church services, and fellowship groups. And we neglect to raise up workers and leaders who can disciple young believers into mature and fruitful Christians. In simple, practical, and biblical terms, LeRoy Eims revives the lost art of disciple making. He explains: - How the early church discipled new Christians - How to meet the basic needs of a growing Christian - How to spot and train potential workers - How to develop mature, godly leaders "True growth takes time and tears and love and patience," Eims states. There is no instant maturity. This book examines the growth process in the life of a Christian and considers what nurture and guidance it takes to develop spiritually qualified workers in the church.

Download or read book Follow Me written by Bill Kasper and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-05-23 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Follow Me." Two of the most powerful and life-changing words to come from Jesus. Those who would accept this invitation would be known as His disciples. Today, Christians still place a lot of emphasis on the importance of becoming a disciple. But what is a disciple? What does a disciple do? What does discipleship look like in real life? Too often, the answers to these questions are assumed to be understood. As a result, although we make the choice to be a disciple, whether recently or years ago, we may not have a clue about what we are supposed to be doing. It doesn't have to be this way. God's Word is very clear and open about discipleship. Maybe you need to start with the basics-Discipleship 101. Perhaps you would like a refresher course. In this book, using Jesus' teachings and stories from the Bible, Pastor Bill leads you to a better understanding of what it means to be a disciple and how you can live as a follower of Jesus.
