Introduction : en France, 90% des consultations donnent lieu à une prescription de médicaments. Certains médecins généralistes déclarent se sentir obligés de prescrire à la fin d'une consultation. Notre étude avait pour but d'étudier les caractéristiques de ce sentiment d'obligation Méthode : cette étude est une étude qualitative avec une approche par théorisation ancrée. Les données ont été recueillies à partir de 11 entretiens individuels semi-dirigés réalisés auprès de médecins généralistes entre avril et aout 2021. Résultats : le médecin se sent obligé de prescrire en réaction à des pressions et influences exercées sur lui, par le patient, les confrères, les médias, les laboratoires. Cette contrainte à la prescription a des conséquences délétères sur le médecin. Ce sentiment d'obligation nait aussi d'une consumérisation de la relation médecin-malade. Utiliser « le remède-médecin » en écoutant et en rassurant le patient permet de remplacer l'ordonnance. Eduquer le patient et prendre des décisions partagées avec lui permet également de se libérer de cette obligation de prescription. Recevoir des enseignements ciblés sur la communication avec le patient pourrait aider les médecins. La réalisation de campagnes d'information à destination du grand public pourrait réduire les pressions subies par les médecins. Conclusion : les médecins subissent des pressions qui créent chez eux un sentiment d'obligation de prescription. Favoriser l'éducation et l'écoute du patient permet de lutter contre ce sentiment d'obligation. Etudier le contenu et l'impact d'une intervention auprès des patients pourrait aider à résoudre ce problème.

Book excerpt: The Violence of Modernity turns to Charles Baudelaire, one of the most canonical figures of literary modernism, in order to reclaim an aesthetic legacy for ethical inquiry and historical critique. Works of modern literature are commonly theorized as symptomatic responses to the trauma of history. In a climate that tends to privilege crisis over critique, Debarati Sanyal argues that it is urgent to rethink literary experience in terms that recall its contestatory potential. Examining Baudelaire's poems afresh, she shifts the focus of critical attention toward an account of modernism as an active engagement with violence, specifically the violence of history in nineteenth-century France. Sanyal analyzes a literary current that uses the traditional hallmarks of modernism—irony, intertextuality, self-reflexivity, and formalism—to challenge the historical violence of modernity. Baudelaire and the committed ironists writing in his wake teach us how to read and resist the violence of history, and thereby to challenge the melancholy tenor of our contemporary "wound culture." In a series of provocative readings, Sanyal presents Baudelaire's poetry as an aesthetic form that contests historical violence through rhetorical strategies of complicity, counterviolence, and critique. The book develops a new account of Baudelaire's significance as a modernist by dislodging him both from his traditional status as a practitioner of "art for art's sake" and from his more recent incarnation as the poet of trauma. Following her extended analysis of Baudelaire's poetry, Sanyal in later chapters considers a number of authors influenced by his strategies—including Rachilde, Virginie Despentes, Albert Camus, and Jean-Paul Sartre—to examine the relevance of their interventions for our current climate of trauma and terror. In recent years, we have become more and more aware of the complexities in volved in the relationship between cognition and behavior. People do not always do what they intend to do. Aside from several nonpsychological factors capable of reducing cognition-behavior consistency, there seems to be a set of complex psychological mechanisms which intervene between action-related cognitions, such as beliefs, expectancies, values, and intentions,and the enactment of the be havior suggested by those cognitions. In our recent research we have focused on volitional mechanismus which presumably enhance cognition-behavior consistency by supporting the main tenance of activated intentions and prevent them from being pushed aside by competing action tendencies.

Documenting the hidden world of France’s migrant worker hostels, it explores why older North and West African men continue to live past retirement age in this sub-standard housing. Conventional wisdom holds that at retirement labour migrants ought to instead return to their families in home countries, where their French pensions would have far greater purchasing power. This paradox is the point of departure for a book which transports readers from the banlieues of Paris to the banks of the Senegal River and the villages of the Anti-Atlas. In intimate ethnographic detail, the author brings to life the experiences of these older labour migrants by sharing in the life of the hostels as a resident, by observing at close quarters the men's family life on the other side of the Mediterranean as a guest in their homes, and even by accompanying them in their travels by bus, sea, and air. The monograph evaluates several theories of migration against rich qualitative data gathered from multiple methods: biographical narrative and semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and archival research. In the process, it offers a thoughtful contribution to broader debates on what it means for migrants to belong and achieve inclusion in society.
