L’observation du rôle des politiques urbaines, notamment de réhabilitation, dans la construction identitaire de la ville, devient passionnant. Pour comprendre l’influence qu’ont les politiques urbaines dans l’image reflétée par la ville et, a fortiori, ses effets sur la construction sociogéographique de celle-ci, nous nous appuierons sur l’outil de réhabilitation du centre ville de Porto : Porto Vivo, SRU. Dans un objectif de réhabilitation et revitalisation, le pouvoir public a clairement développé des objectifs pro-gentrifications, dans une volonté de mixité sociale inversée. Néanmoins, la question se pose de savoir, si cette gentrification, à terme, ne risque-t-elle pas d’accentuer les inégalités, voir d’isoler des populations déjà fragiles ? Nous faisons l’hypothèse dans cette recherche que Porto Vivo, SRU participe à favoriser des phénomènes de gentrification, concomitamment à une ségrégation des classes de population les plus pauvres.
