Book Synopsis Knowledge and Reality by : P. Parrini

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: XIV The stability of a philosophical construction will depend not only upon the solidity of the blocks, of the pillars and architraves that make it up, but also upon the way in which all these parts are connected. Of course, it will not be possible to argue for every single part of a philosophical building: to do so would mean to embark in a virtually endless enterprise. Accordingly, some of the parts of a philosophical building will have to be taken from the literature on the subject as 'ready made' or 'semi-finished' elements, while others will be argued for in the course of building. This is what happened in my work too. In some cases (for in stance, in the case of epistemic relativism), my concern was to illustrate theses which I believed to be sufficiently consolidated, rather than to ar gue for them. In other cases - where I was directly engaged in building the theory that I want to fonnulate - I did exactly the opposite. This is what I have tried to achieve, for example, for those proper architraves of my construction, viz. the connection between scepticism and metaphysi cal realism. and the thesis of the nonnative value of the fundamental epistemological notions (truth, objectivity, and rationality).
Book Synopsis Invisible Management by : Sven-Erik Sjöstrand
Download or read book Invisible Management written by Sven-Erik Sjöstrand and published by Cengage Learning. This book was released on 2001 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smart Strategies Series Invisible Management presents eleven empirical investigations into managerial leadership based on the frame of reference called social constructionism. The theoretical conclusions from these disclose a range of previously concealed aspects of management and leadership, which aim to inspire the practitioner and challenge the theoretician. Invisible Management follows the theme that managerial leadership is an interactional phenomenon, that managers are regarded as one of several important constructors and practitioners of organizational leadership, rather than exclusive helmsmen. The novel approach of Invisible Management revises the agenda for the discourse on management and leadership as currently conducted among academics and practitioners. It introduces three ingredients that are not widely recognised in existing research. These are, small talk, 'invisible' or unrecognised arenas and institutional dynamics. These three themes have been brought together in a deliberate attempt to rethink and reformulate both strategic management and (managerial) leadership theory.

Book Synopsis Employment in Household Services by :
Download or read book Employment in Household Services written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report gives an overview of the household services sector in the European Union, showing how the transformation of unpaid work traditionally carried out in the home is increasingly seen by policy makers as having potential for job creation. It looks at the current experiences of paid workers and examines trends, policies and best practice in this domain. Five main spheres are covered: childcare, eldercare, domestic cleaning, home maintenance and catering. The findings are drawn from research carried out in eight Member States: Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom. The report addresses concerns about the quality of employment and working conditions in household services, as well as implications for equal opportunities and social inclusion. The conclusions present a sound basis for future policy initiatives in this field, which would lead to improved working conditions and training and career prospects for workers, as well as the provision of better quality services.

On the one hand, it focuses on chronic diseases and their impact on work, emphasising the role and the regulation of welfare systems. On the other, attention is given to youth unemployment and to those forms of employment which might have an impact on young people. Section II touches upon the relationship between the environment and industrial relations, while the third part broaches the topic of the impact of technology in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as Industry 4.0. As such, this volume provides an exhaustive picture of the changes currently underway, considering all the aspects which will affect work now and in the future.

Download or read book Gower Handbook of Internal Communication written by Eileen Scholes and published by Gower Publishing, Ltd.. This book was released on 1997 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employee commitment can mean the difference between success and disaster. So internal communication is now a key issue for senior management. This new Gower Handbook recognises IC's emergence as a new management discipline. It is aimed both at the generalist manager who needs to come to terms with the theoretical and technical aspects of internal communication, and the media specialist now seeking wider management skills and perspectives.Early chapters examine changes in IC's strategic context. These include organizations' increasing need for innovation and flexibility; the disappearance of 'loyalty' among employees; growing recognition of the importance of corporate 'brand' and how to sustain it; and the effects on traditional work and management patterns of new computer networks. Step-by-step guides introduce the reader to creating IC strategies and to carrying out research and measurement. Over 45 communication techniques, from team meetings to web sites, are evaluated for use in differing circumstances. The Handbook also looks at how to set about developing good communicators; and finally presents 16 practical case studies in key application areas. Organizations featured are all leaders in their field, among them Andersen Consulting, The Body Shop, BP Chemicals, IBM, The Boots Company, Glaxo Operations, Rover, SmithKline Beecham, WH Smith and Unigate Dairies.Eileen Scholes and her team have compiled what is probably the most comprehensive - and is certainly the most authoritative - guide available to the principles and practice of internal communication.

Book Synopsis Europe and Problems of Marketization by : Colin Crouch
Download or read book Europe and Problems of Marketization written by Colin Crouch and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2013 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
