Book excerpt: Rachel Holley has always dreamed of a wedding—the white dress, the fairy tale, and of course, the happily-ever-after. But when her fiancé breaks it off the night before, claiming she doesn’t love him, Rachel’s fairy tale ends in ashes. Homeless, hopeless, and feeling like her life has been completely derailed, Rachel must start over in all sorts of ways—and hold her head up high in the fishbowl of her tiny village. The last person she expects to become a friend is Sam West, the taciturn owner of The Bell, Thornthwaite’s rougher pub, and a little rough around the edges of himself. But as Rachel gets to know Sam, and sees him caring for his orphaned nephew, she finds herself drawn to this enigmatic man. Nothing about Sam is what Rachel expected in a life partner, and yet she can’t deny their increasing closeness. But can love flourish on the rebound? And will there be a vicarage wedding after all?

Book Synopsis Strangers In The Woods by : Simon Dudley
Download or read book Strangers In The Woods written by Simon Dudley and published by indi-scribbler. This book was released on 2015-10-05 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strangers in the Woods is the second book in the Laura McNaughty Adventures series. The stories are suitable for all age groups, from kids of all levels, to teens and adults too. It’s just good family reading. And the books can be read in any order as the stories stand alone. Laura's brother, Johnny, and his pals have great fun clearing the local tidal pool of some unwelcome visitors; and Laura gets to grips with some strange "goings-on" while camping with her friends on an Island just a few miles off the coast from her favourite beach. Could the unexplained events on the island be linked to the arrival of two mysterious birdwatchers in Stokey's Woods? Laura McBean lives in the middle cottage of three with her brother Johnny and her mum on the edge of Stokey's Woods. Laura was quite a mischievous girl when she was growing up, and that is how she got the nickname of Laura McNaughty. She doesn't get into as much mischief now because she is that little bit older; but if she finds out that someone has been cruel to animals then that person, whoever he or she maybe, will have Laura and her friends to contend with. Simon Dudley’s, beautifully written and charmingly portrayed, children's book series is a pleasure to read. The lost and nearly forgotten years of 1950’s childhood can be experienced within these pages as the author cleverly immerses you into their world. This is a real treat for any reader, young or old, who fancies a bit of time travel back to when kids could literally be kids.

After spending several years backpacking through Europe and Australia, she’s now back home… unemployed and pregnant, with no boyfriend or husband in sight. At first, Miriam only wants to hide away from the shocked and prying eyes of her father’s parishioners, but her sisters won’t let her. Determined to help her find her way, they urge Miriam to accept a job working as an assistant to Simon, the new vicar… and to think about what will happen when the baby comes. As Miriam starts putting down roots, she finds an unexpected friendship in her sister Rachel’s ex-fiancé, Dan Taylor. And as she thinks about her future, she finds hope and healing in the most unexpected places. But when the past rushes up to meet both her and Dan, can Miriam stay the course?

Book Synopsis HORROR AT THE VICARAGE by : Bugs2writes
Download or read book HORROR AT THE VICARAGE written by Bugs2writes and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Horror at the Vicarage, ' by David G Hulson, a member of Bugs2writes, comprises eighteen short stories based in and around the crumbling vicarage belonging to the Church of St George. Each of the stories is complete, yet by each sharing the same settings and characters all the narratives are closely linked and related. Jake narrates the supernatural events that occur whilst he and his family attempt to live ordinary lives as good citizens of the parish. However, things are never quite what they seem. Instead, behind a semblance of normality, Jake and his parents are frequently forced to confront demons, ghouls, ghosts and vampires. The devil's fiendish creatures spawn from the darkest of hell and rise to create and dispense evil wherever they go. Filled with confusion, terror, suspense and mystery, the atmosphere surrounding the antiquated vicarage and archaic graveyard evokes the very best of the horror genre. Thick swirling mists, crumbling tomb stones and dank, dark crypts all add to the drama.
