Book Synopsis Laser Interferometer (TENKO-10 and -100) for Gravitational Wave Antenna Development by : Nobuki Kawashima
Download or read book Laser Interferometer (TENKO-10 and -100) for Gravitational Wave Antenna Development written by Nobuki Kawashima and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Development of 10 m 102 bounce laser interferometer gravitational wave antenna(TENKO-10) at ISAS is described. The objective is to establish the engineering background for the laser interferometer gravitational wave antenna in Japan so that we can construct a km class antenna for the detection of gravitational waves in future. A particular emphasis was on the achievement of a long term stable operation. 127 hour operation was realized in February-March 1989 and more than 5 hour continuous operation was done without any adjustment. An upgrade of the interferometer to l00m(TENKO-l00) is going to be started in 1991 and will be completed in 1994.

Download or read book Gravitational Astronomy: Instrument Design And Astrophysical Prospects - Proceedings Of The Elizabeth And Frederick White Research Conference written by David E Mcclelland and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991-06-19 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the first conference dedicated entirely to the detection and use of gravitational waves. Articles include status reports on major existing prototypes, both laser interferometer and resonant bar detectors; numerical modelling of detectors; data processing requirements; quantum optical techniques; and future plans and directions for resonant bar and laser interferometer instruments. It will serve as an important summary of the status of the field at the beginning of the decade in which direct detection of gravity waves should finally be achieved, giving birth to gravitational astronomy.

Book excerpt: "Astronomy and Astrophysics Abstracts" appearing twice a year has become oneof the fundamental publications in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics andneighbouring sciences. It is the most important English-language abstracting journal in the mentioned branches. The abstrats are classified under more than a hundred subject categories, thus permitting a quick survey of the whole extended material. The AAA is a valuable and important publication for all students and scientists working in the fields of astronomy and related sciences. As such it represents a necessary ingredient of any astronomical library all over the world.

This book was released on 1997-03-19 with total page 2024 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1975, the triennial Marcel Grossmann Meetings have been organized in order to provide opportunities for discussing recent advances in gravitation, general relativity and relativisitic field theories, emphasizing mathematical foundations, physical predictions, and experimental tests. The proceedings of the Seventh Marcel Grossmann Meeting include the invited papers given at the plenary sessions, the summaries of the parallel sessions, the contributed papers presented at the parallel sessions, and the evening public lectures. The authors of these papers discuss many of the recent theoretical, observational, and experimental developments that have significant implications for the fields of physics, cosmology, and relativistic astrophysics.
Book Synopsis Gravitational Waves: Sources And Detectors - Proceedings Of The International Conference by : Francesco Fidecaro
Download or read book Gravitational Waves: Sources And Detectors - Proceedings Of The International Conference written by Francesco Fidecaro and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-04-19 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The construction of large interferometers for gravitational wave detection is now in progress in Europe and in the United States. To stimulate theoretical and experimental work a conference was organised in Cascina (Italy), where the Virgo interferometer is being built. Review talks discussed the expected signals, covering general relativity and astrophysical aspects (binary coalescence, supernovae, neutron stars, cosmological background). Experimental talks gave the current status of the running experiments (resonant bars, prototype interferometers, satellite tracking) and of the planned ones (large interferometers, ultra cryogenic resonating bars and spheres, space missions).

Download or read book Experimental Gravitation, Proceedings of the INT Symposium on Experimental Gravitation, 26 June - 2 July 1993, Nathiagali, Pakistan written by Munawar Karim and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-06-29 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental gravitation covers a wide and thriving area, of interest both to theoreticians and experimentalists. The timescale involved for completion of experiments has, however, meant that relatively little material is published to date. These proceedings provide an up to date account of recent developments from respected workers in the field. For researchers in experimental and theoretical gravitation, classical and quantum gravity, and in general relativity and cosmology.

Book Synopsis Fundamentals Of Interferometric Gravitational Wave Detectors (Second Edition) by : Peter R Saulson
Download or read book Fundamentals Of Interferometric Gravitational Wave Detectors (Second Edition) written by Peter R Saulson and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-02-16 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The content of the Saulson’s book remains valid and offers a versatile introduction to gravitational wave astronomy. The book is appropriate for undergraduate students and can be read by graduate students and researchers who want to be involved in either the theoretical or the experimental traits of the study of gravitational waves.'Contemporary PhysicsLIGO's recent discovery of gravitational waves was headline news around the world. Many people will want to understand more about what a gravitational wave is, how LIGO works, and how LIGO functions as a detector of gravitational waves. This book aims to communicate the basic logic of interferometric gravitational wave detectors to students who are new to the field. It assumes that the reader has a basic knowledge of physics, but no special familiarity with gravitational waves, with general relativity, or with the special techniques of experimental physics. All of the necessary ideas are developed in the book. The first edition was published in 1994. Since the book is aimed at explaining the physical ideas behind the design of LIGO, it stands the test of time. For the second edition, an Epilogue has been added; it brings the treatment of technical details up to date, and provides references that would allow a student to become proficient with today's designs.
