Book Synopsis Spatial Information for Land Use Management by : Michael J. Hill
Download or read book Spatial Information for Land Use Management written by Michael J. Hill and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-11-17 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and environmental modelling are increasingly being used to address land use and land use management issues although much of the development in these applications is based in specific case studies that are not readily accessible to a wide audience. Spatial Information for Land Use Management is designed as a reference that provides a description and discussion of the issues involved in the use of spatial information for land use management. The chapters include detailed examples of the use of spatial information in land use management. The book begins with the technological methods, examines applications in a variety of environments, and describes the ways in which issues of scale, uncertainty, linkage of models and GIS, and problem solution have been addressed.
Book Synopsis Population, Land Use, and Environment by : National Research Council
Download or read book Population, Land Use, and Environment written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2005-10-15 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Population, Land Use, and Environment: Research Directions offers recommendations for future research to improve understanding of how changes in human populations affect the natural environment by means of changes in land use, such as deforestation, urban development, and development of coastal zones. It also features a set of state-of-the-art papers by leading researchers that analyze population-land useenvironment relationships in urban and rural settings in developed and underdeveloped countries and that show how remote sensing and other observational methods are being applied to these issues. This book will serve as a resource for researchers, research funders, and students.

This book was released on 1988 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prepared under the auspices of the Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE), this book is designed both as a practical handbook for use by land administrators and managers, and as a reference for trainees. The authors take a broad approach beginning with a discussion of the different types of cadastral surveys--those concerned with the extent, value, and ownership of land. They continue with sections on surveying, the handling of data, and the economics and management of land information systems. The book is aimed especially at the developing world, where resources available to acquire and manage land information may be limited.

Book Synopsis National Land Parcel Data by : National Research Council
Download or read book National Land Parcel Data written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2007-11-07 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Land parcel data (also known as cadastral data) provide geographically referenced information about the rights, interests, and ownership of land and are an important part of the financial, legal, and real estate systems of society. The data are used by governments to make decisions about land development, business activities, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and law enforcement. In 1980, a National Research Council book called for nationally integrated land parcel data, but despite major progress in the development of land parcel databases in many local jurisdictions, little progress has been made toward a national system. National Land Parcel Data looks at the current status of land parcel data in the United States. The book concludes that nationally integrated land parcel data is necessary, feasible, and affordable. It provides recommendations for establishing a practical framework for sustained intergovernmental coordination and funding required to overcome the remaining challenges and move forward.

Book Synopsis Land Use Competition by : Jörg Niewöhner
Download or read book Land Use Competition written by Jörg Niewöhner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contributes to broadening the interdisciplinary knowledge basis for the description, analysis and assessment of land use practices. It presents conceptual advances grounded in empirical case studies on four main themes: distal drivers, competing demands on different scales, changing food regimes and land-water competition. Competition over land ownership and use is one of the key contexts in which the effects of global change on social-ecological systems unfold. As such, understanding these rapidly changing dynamics is one of the most pressing challenges of global change research in the 21st century. This book contributes to a deeper understanding of the manifold interactions between land systems, the economics of resource production, distribution and use, as well as the logics of local livelihoods and cultural contexts. It addresses a broad readership in the geosciences, land and environmental sciences, offering them an essential reference guide to land use competition.
