Book Synopsis L'Amant de Marguerite Duras (Analyse approfondie) by : Morgane Lambinet
Download or read book L'Amant de Marguerite Duras (Analyse approfondie) written by Morgane Lambinet and published by Profil littéraire. This book was released on 2016-11-09 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Revisioning Duras written by Janet Sayers and published by Liverpool University Press. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The extraordinary range, complexity and power of Marguerite Duras – novelist, dramatist, film-maker, essayist – has been justly recognized. Yet in the years following her death in 1996, there has been an increasing tendency to consecrate her work, particularly by those critics who approach it primarily in biographical terms. The British and American specialists featured in this interdisciplinary collection aim to resurrect the Duras corpus in all its forms by submitting it theoretically to three main areas of enquiry. By establishing how far Duras’s work questions and redefines the parameters of literary and cinematic form, as well as the categories of race and ethnicity, homosexuality and heterosexuality, fantasy and violence, the contributors to this volume "revision" Duras’s work in the widest sense of the term.

Book Synopsis Albert Camus, Marguerite Duras, and the Legacy of Mourning by : Michelle Beauclair
Download or read book Albert Camus, Marguerite Duras, and the Legacy of Mourning written by Michelle Beauclair and published by Peter Lang Incorporated, International Academic Publishers. This book was released on 1998 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study examines the complexity of mourning in the works of two of the most widely read, yet rarely compared, contemporary authors in France, Albert Camus, born and raised in Algeria, and Marguerite Duras, originally from the former French Indochina. The book studies the figurative and thematic representations of mourning in these authors' works to show how their depictions of grieving extend beyond classic psychoanalytic theories of bereavement to portray a mourning that is unmitigated and interminable. The text completes this examination by exploring the distinction between individual and collective mourning attempts and by underscoring the pervasive tone of melancholy in the post-World War II writings of both authors.
Book Synopsis Duras, Writing, and the Ethical by : Martin Crowley
Download or read book Duras, Writing, and the Ethical written by Martin Crowley and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a study of the whole of Duras's written oeuvre, covering journalism and lesser-known works as well as more famous texts. It brings out the constant presence of ethical questions in and around the experiences of passion and excess with which her work is always concerned, andsubjects Duras's texts to an unprecedented level of close reading, carrying her beyond the terms of her usual reception. On the basis of this approach, and with reference to Duras's involvement with her intellectual and political contexts, the book demonstrates the detailed engagement of Duras'swriting in the ethical and political issues of her day. Careful textual analysis shows the particular, fragile nature of this engagement, as well as the intricate textures of Duras's work; this leads to a striking new model of the relation between the literary text and the ethical life of itsreaders, which will be of importance not only to specialists in French Studies, but to all those interested in ethical criticism and modern literary studies.
