Book excerpt: Contexte : Il existe en France 3,5 millions de personnes en situation de handicap, dont 650 000 présentent une déficience intellectuelle. Depuis 2002, de nombreuses études pointent chez ces personnes des difficultés dans l'accès aux soins, et différentes solutions ont été préconisées pour améliorer cet accès. Méthode : Étude qualitative par entretiens semi-dirigés en focus group. Les critères d'inclusions étaient : membres du personnel médico-social travaillant au sein des structures d'accueil non médicalisées pour adultes déficients intellectuels de l'association des « Papillons Blancs » de Roubaix-Tourcoing. Les données recueillies ont été anonymisées, retranscrites, puis étudiées par analyse thématique de contenu, en s'aidant du logiciel d'analyse qualitative QSR Nvivo 10. Les entretiens ont été réalisés jusqu'à saturation des données. Résultats : L'accès aux soins des personnes en situation de handicap mental apparait comme encore inférieur à celui de la population générale, avec un certain degré de lassitude de la part des médecins généralistes. La formation et l'information à la santé des adultes déficients intellectuels et du personnel médico-social, tout comme la formation et la sensibilisation au handicap des professionnels de santé sont à développer pour améliorer l'accès aux soins. Par ailleurs, il existe un manque certain de communication et de compréhension interprofessionnelle, ce qui ne favorise pas une coordination des soins déjà vue comme clairement insuffisante. Cela malgré certains outils mis en place, comme les cahiers de liaison, qui semblent prometteurs. Dans un secteur médico-social déjà sous tension en terme d'effectif, les nouvelles problématiques que sont le vieillissement croissant de la population en situation de handicap, et le nécessaire développement des politiques de prévention, cela dans le cadre d'une offre de soin se raréfiant, seront des défis à relever dans les années qui viennent.
