Book Synopsis CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENTS by : James Signorelli
Download or read book CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENTS written by James Signorelli and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gifted and talented students and any student interested in pursuing a science major in college needs a rigorous program to prepare them while they are still in high school. This book utilizes a format where the application of several disciplines-science, math, and language arts principles-are mandated. Each lab concludes with either an essay or a detailed analysis of what happened and why it happened. This format is based on the expectations of joining a university program or becoming an industrial science professional. The ideal student lab report would be written in a lab research notebook, and then the essay or final analysis is done on a word processor to allow for repeat editing and corrections. The research notebook has all graph pages, a title section, and a place for the students and their assistants to sign and witness that exercise. The basic mechanics of the lab report-title, purpose, procedure, diagrams, data table, math and calculations, observations, and graphs-are handwritten into the book. The conclusion is done on a word processor (MS Word), which allows the instructor to guide the student in writing and editing a complete essay using the MLA format. When the final copy is completed, the essay is printed and inserted into the lab notebook for grading. At the end of the term, the student has all their labs in one place for future reference. These lab notebooks can be obtained for as little as $ 3.00 per book. This is money well-spent. In our district, the Board of Education buys the books for each student. The BOE sees these books as expendable but necessary materials for all science and engineering instruction.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laboratory Experiments in the Social Sciences is the only book providing core information for researchers about the ways and means to conduct experiments. Its comprehensive regard for laboratory experiments encompasses “how-to explanations, investigations of philosophies and ethics, explorations of experiments in specific social science disciplines, and summaries of both the history and future of social science laboratories. No other book offers such a direct avenue to enlarging our knowledge in the social sciences. This collection of original chapters combines instructions and advice about the design of laboratory experiments in the social sciences with the array of other issues. While there are books on experimental design and chapters in more general methods books on design, theory, and ethical issues, no other book attempts to discuss the fundamental ideas of the philosophy of science or lays out the methods comprehensively or in such detail. Experimentation has recently prospered because of increasing interest in cross-disciplinary syntheses, and this book of advice, guidelines, and observations underline its potential and increasing importance. · Provides a comprehensive summary of issues in social science experimentation, from ethics to design, management, and financing· Offers "how-to" explanations of the problems and challenges faced by everyone involved in social science experiments· Pays attention to both practical problems and to theoretical and philosophical arguments· Defines commonalities and distinctions within and among experimental situations across the social sciences
Book Synopsis Laboratory Handbook for General Chemistry by : Norman E. Griswold
Download or read book Laboratory Handbook for General Chemistry written by Norman E. Griswold and published by Cengage Learning. This book was released on 2006 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The LABORATORY HANDBOOK FOR GENERAL CHEMISTRY helps students perform their laboratory work more effectively, efficiently, and safely. It is not a compilation of experimental procedures, but rather, throughout three editions, it remains a "how-to" guide containing specific information about the basic equipment, techniques, and operations that are necessary for successful laboratory experiments. The importance of laboratory safety is stressed. Video demonstrations of a number of common laboratory techniques are an important feature of this Third Edition. The Handbook can be used in conjunction with CER modular experiments, to support locally written experiments, or to complement the techniques sections of commercial lab manuals.
