Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: *** eBook edition, with colour images *** Description: The Shards series are a compilation of hundreds of posts and articles I have written during 2022 and 2023. Both volumes cover a large selection of topics, from alternative biblical exegesis, to energy policy criticism, to climate deception, and to covid idiocy. Yet the disinformation and gaslighting continues unabated, and has even surpassed the peak of just two years ago. When will it end, I hear you ask? Only when we stand up to it, and call it out in public. Our new age is not the Anthropocene, it is actually the Deceptocene. Thus we see: Clerics only telling their flocks half of the gospel story. Medics refusing to investigate alternative therapeutics. Climate scientists amending and cherry-picking data. The media not investigating alternate facts and data. Academics jumping on bandwagons for grant funding. Politicians using cherry-picked data to their advantage. These many deceptions can only be the result of intentional deceit, not mere incompetence. Although these deceits are invigorated by bandwagon-riders - those who seek personal advantage through turning a blind-eye to the corruption. It is time to stand up to the Woke cry-bullies, and break through the deception. V1.9 2024 eBook colour. .

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: There is much that the church today can learn from the worship of the early church, particularly in the second century. This was a time when increasing numbers of gentiles were coming to the church with little or no previous knowledge of the Judeo-Christian tradition. How did the church train and instruct those who wished to join it? How did its worship, particularly in baptism and in communion, respond to the challenge of shaping and nurturing believers who would have to live their faith in a hostile environment? Today the church begins to face similar conditions. Growing numbers around us have little or no idea what our faith is all about. As such people seek membership in the church, and as we all seek ways to be faithful in the present environment, we have much to learn from the church in those earlier times, and particularly from its worship.

Book excerpt: Jon Sobrino's latest book takes its starting point from tragedy and violence: a devastating earthquake in El Salvador, the terrorist attacks of September 11, and the subsequent bombing of Afghanistan. The topic of suffering and death has traditionally raised questions about the nature and existence of God. But for Sobrino the primary question is addressed to ourselves: Who are we human beings? What does it mean to be human in a world of inequality, injustice, and barbarism? In examining the cruelty of history from the standpoint of the victims, Sobrino finds a challenge not just to find meaning, but to answer a call to personal conversion, structural change, compassion, and solidarity. Ultimately, Christian faith finds hope in the cross--a cross borne not only by Christ, but by Romero, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and the poor: "Because of that hope, no matter how hard it is to live through catastrophes, terrorism and barbarity, we cannot rule out the possibility of resurrection."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who was Jesus in real life? What inspired his ideas? What did he aim to achieve? What drew his disciples to him? How was he influenced by them? Unlike the many “quests for the historical Jesus”, as a psychologist, Wernik answers these questions from the perspectives of psychology and the social sciences. This book’s central axis is the theme of the father. It looks at the family constellation into which Jesus was born, where he was raised by a stepfather. It also investigates the relationship he develops with God, his father in heaven; and examines how he became a father figure to his disciples and followers. It is hoped that readers will also think about their own father when reading, the one usually called “dad”. Jesus and His Two Fathers sees Jesus’ love of peace and appeasement doctrine, as well as his difficulty with anger control, in the context of his upbringing and family constellation. Wernik offers a solution to the problem of the “missing years” which were unaccounted in the New Testament. He examines the internal conflicts in Jesus’ movement, and the tensions with the religious establishment, which led to his death. Jesus did not see himself as the Messiah, and Wernik shows him in fact as a great reformer of Judaism, who changed the notions of righteousness, the relation of the believers to God, and the status of the commandments. This book will be of interest to scholars, teachers and students in the humanities and social sciences, among others in the fields of religion, especially Christianity and Judaism. It is aimed at interested discerning readers of non-fiction in these areas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "“Reads like a detective thriller! It picks you up and never lets go of you.” —Jess Stearn, bestselling author of Edgar Cayce, The Sleeping Prophet Ancient texts reveal that Jesus spent 17 years in the Orient. They say that from age 13 to age 29, Jesus traveled to India, Nepal, Ladakh and Tibet as both student and teacher. For the first time, Elizabeth Clare Prophet brings together the testimony of four eyewitnesses—and three variant translations—of these remarkable documents. She tells the intriguing story of how Russian journalist Nicolas Notovitch discovered the manuscripts in 1887 in a monastery in Ladakh. Critics “proved” they did not exist—then three distinguished scholars and educators rediscovered them in the twentieth century. Now you can read for yourself what Jesus said and did prior to his Palestinian mission. It’s one of the most revolutionary messages of our time."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
