Download or read book El Que Me La Hace Me La Paga written by Domingo B. Lage and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Ndula congo Monikiamboto. Entuala Kongo.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This volume examines the multiple narrative perspectives Donoso presents and traces a transformation in Donoso's works from complex stage performance to political forum. Studying fiction as grotesque, mannered theater or as a transparent screen through which social and political concerns are scrutinized, Gonzalez Mandri illuminates another constant in Donoso's work: a weaving of feminine and masculine aspects of artistic voice as they incorporate the idioms of drama, radio, film, and television."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Synopsis When Plants Dream by : Daniel Pinchbeck
Download or read book When Plants Dream written by Daniel Pinchbeck and published by Watkins Media Limited. This book was released on 2019-09-10 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ayahuasca is a powerful tool for transformation, that more and more Westerners are flocking to drink in a quest for greater self-knowledge, healing and reconnection with the natural world. This formerly esoteric, little-known brew is now a growth industry. But why? Ayahuasca is a psychoactive brew that has a long history of ritual use among indigenous groups of the Upper Amazon. Made from the ayahuasca vine and the leaves of a shrub, it is associated with healing in collective ceremonies and in more intimate contexts, generally under the direction of specialist – an ayahuasquero. These are experienced practitioners who guide the ceremony and the drinkers’ experience. Ayahuasca has gained significant popularity these days in cities around the world. Why? What effect might ayahuasca be having on our culture? Does the brew, which seems to inspire environmental action, simplified lifestyles and more communitarian behaviour, act as an antidote to frenzied consumerist culture? In When Plants Dream, Pinchbeck and Rokhlin explore the economic, social, political, cultural and environmental impact that ayahuasca is having on society. Part 1 covers the background; what ayahuasca is, where it is found, and its cultural origins. Part 2 explores the role and practices of the ayahuasquero in both Amazonian and Western cultures. Part 3 examines the medicinal plants of the Amazon, looking particularly at the ingredients in ayahuasca and their therapeutic qualities, covering the most up-to-date biomedical research, psychedelic science and psychopharmacology. It also covers all the legal aspects of ayahuasca use. Lastly in Part 4 Pinchbeck and Rokhlin question the future of ayahuasca. When Plants Dream is the first book of its kind to look at the science and expanding culture of ayahuasca, from its historical use to its appropriation by the West and the impact it is having on cultures beyond the Amazon.

Book Synopsis Perspectives on Contemporary Spanish American Theatre by : Frank N. Dauster
Download or read book Perspectives on Contemporary Spanish American Theatre written by Frank N. Dauster and published by Bucknell University Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In this collection, nine specialists in Spanish American theatre examine social and aesthetic issues reflected in today's vital drama." "The essays in this volume reflect a pattern of interests rapidly becoming dominant among scholars. Several of them deal with questions of genre or focus on metatheatre and parody, theatrical techniques widespread in Latin America. The majority treat these topics in conjunction with their social context. Dominant themes include the question of whether there can be culture-specific genres, incorporating the extremely varied ethnic and cultural strands of the Spanish American social fabric, or the use (and reinterpretation) of tragic and comic structures and classical myths to express social marginality or demythologize received history. A number of essays focus on the problematic situation of women in Spanish American society and their struggle to achieve equality in a highly traditional culture. At the same time the authors examine the role of women in the theatre, both as protagonists and as creative artists, and their struggle to gain acceptance of nontraditional roles and lifestyles."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
