Book Synopsis International Sport by : Richard William Cox
Download or read book International Sport written by Richard William Cox and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been an explosion in the quantity of sports history literature published in recent years, making it increasingly difficult to keep abreast of developments. The annual number of publications has increased from around 250 to 1,000 a year over the last decade. This is due in part to the fact that during the late 1980s and 90s, many clubs, leagues and governing bodies of sport have celebrated their centenaries and produced histories to mark this occasion and commemorate their achievements. It is also the result of the growing popularity and realisation of the importance of sport history research within academe. This international bibliography of books, articles, conference proceedings and essays in the English language is a one-stop for the sports historian to know what is new.

You will learn how to manage your intense sensitivity as a Human Angel and how to make the best use of it in helping others. Fourteen chapters to change your life forever, to guide you, step by step, on your journey in overcoming the ego and suffering, until the fulfilment of your true nature as a Human Angel. Within the pages of this book, you will find out that what seemed to be a burden weighing heavily on your shoulders over the years, were simply your wings. The book phenomenon of the web.The book We are Human Angels, with its unique story, is the book phenomenon of the web. It is a self-published book, and is only available online. Because of this, We are Human Angels has not been given the usual promotion and marketing efforts that publishing houses normally carry out with their newest releases. Nevertheless, in a very short time after its publication many readers of different nationalities, driven by the deep wish to share its message, spontaneously started to contact the authors offering to translate the book into their native languages. We are Human Angels can now count on many different translations (and other translations are yet to come) and has become the benchmark for the steadily increasing community of Human Angels in the world.

Book Synopsis Knowledge and Reality by : P. Parrini

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: XIV The stability of a philosophical construction will depend not only upon the solidity of the blocks, of the pillars and architraves that make it up, but also upon the way in which all these parts are connected. Of course, it will not be possible to argue for every single part of a philosophical building: to do so would mean to embark in a virtually endless enterprise. Accordingly, some of the parts of a philosophical building will have to be taken from the literature on the subject as 'ready made' or 'semi-finished' elements, while others will be argued for in the course of building. This is what happened in my work too. In some cases (for in stance, in the case of epistemic relativism), my concern was to illustrate theses which I believed to be sufficiently consolidated, rather than to ar gue for them. In other cases - where I was directly engaged in building the theory that I want to fonnulate - I did exactly the opposite. This is what I have tried to achieve, for example, for those proper architraves of my construction, viz. the connection between scepticism and metaphysi cal realism. and the thesis of the nonnative value of the fundamental epistemological notions (truth, objectivity, and rationality).
Book Synopsis Hand and Wrist Injuries In Combat Sports by : Riccardo Luchetti
Download or read book Hand and Wrist Injuries In Combat Sports written by Riccardo Luchetti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This well-illustrated book describes the injuries to the hand and wrist that are commonly encountered among participants in combat sports, explaining the mechanisms of injury and offering state of the art guidance on diagnosis and treatment. It covers both injuries characteristic of individual sports, such as kendo, karate, judo, jiu-jitsu, aikido, and mixed martial arts, and pathologies encountered across the full range of combat sports, including boxing, wrestling, and taekwondo. In addition to management, careful attention is paid to rehabilitation following injury and to psychological aspects of recovery from injury. The book is the result of a collaboration with the International Society for Sport Traumatology of the Hand (ISSPORTH) and has been designed to meet the needs of all practitioners who work with combat sports athletes. While especially helpful for surgeons, physicians, therapists, and rehabilitators, it will also be of value to coaches, trainers, and players. The authors are leading international experts in the field who have been involved with international societies and in some cases have personal experience of combat sports at a high level.

Book Synopsis Matthew Barney : Mitologie contemporanee ; Fondazione Merz, [Torino, 31.10.2008 - 11.01.2009] by : Matthew Barney
Download or read book Matthew Barney : Mitologie contemporanee ; Fondazione Merz, [Torino, 31.10.2008 - 11.01.2009] written by Matthew Barney and published by Hopeful Monster. This book was released on 2009 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times critic Michael Kimmelman has called Matthew Barney "the most important American artist of his generation." Most known for his epic film series Cremaster Cycle (1994-2002) and Drawing Restraint (2005), a feature film made with his partner, Björk, Barney's technically and conceptually fastidious work conflates various personal and universal mythologies into narratives that are famously difficult to unravel. This volume compiles work from Barney's solo exhibitions at Turin's Fondazione Merz and National Museum of Cinema, as well as coverage of the International Festival of Philosophy of Contemporary Art, a collaboration between the Fondazione Merz and the University of Turin for which Barney was featured in conversation with Richard Flood and Arthur C. Danto.
