Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique, comprehensive book provides a much-needed reference on the treatment and management of non-infectious uveitis. Carefully designed, Treatment of Non-infectious Uveitis is the first book of its kind to provide an in-depth, clinically-relevant, expert-driven resource for ophthalmologists focusing on modalities of uveitis treatment, their mechanism of action, dosing, and side effects. Each chapter provides an introduction, mechanism of action, indication, dosage, side effects, and efficacy summaries from clinical trials and other published literature. Topics range from topical treatment, to locally administered therapy including drug-releasing implants, to systemic immunosuppressive treatments both tried and new, as well as surgical management, with each chapter highlighting important practice pearls as well as easy-reference dosing tables, side effects, and lab monitoring pertinent to the agents discussed. The book concludes with a discussion of novel approaches to the treatment of non-infectious uveitis, and special considerations when treating uveitis in the pediatric patient. The majority of patients with non-infectious uveitis are treated by comprehensive ophthalmologists, many of whom are less familiar with established treatment guidelines outlining the role of corticosteroids and immunomodulatory therapy. While the non-specialist, resident, or fellow is sure to benefit from this one-stop guide to uveitis treatment, retina and uveitis specialists alike will also appreciate the practice tips and thorough coverage of this expertly-written reference. Treatment of Non-infectious Uveitis is the ideal reference for all ophthalmologists who seek to improve their understanding of the causes of uveitis and learn how to best treat this condition.

It suggests an innovative method of arriving at a diagnosis in the skeleton by applying what are referred to as 'operational definitions'. The aim is to ensure that all those who study bones will use the same criteria for diagnosing disease, which will enable valid comparisons to be made between studies. This book is based on modern clinical knowledge and provides background information so that those who read it will understand the natural history of bone diseases, and this will enable them to draw reliable conclusions from their observations. Details of bone metabolism and the fundamentals of basic pathology are also provided, as well as a comprehensive and up-to-date bibliography. A short chapter on epidemiology provides information on how best to analyze and present the results of a study of human remains.

Book excerpt: This vol. has been built upon all of the known parish register & census evidence bearing upon the changing size of France's Huguenot population over the course of the period between the Edict of Nantes & its Revocation -- specifically, upon census figures or annual totals of baptisms for any Protestant church or community for which such evidence spans 40 or more years of the cent. This national investigation is offered in the hope that it can help to stimulate more of the detailed local studies of individual Protestant communities & of the relations between their members & their Catholic neighbors that are needed to illuminate these variations, as well as to highlight those regions where such studies might be particularly fruitful. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a compilation of papers based on pres entations made at the International Symposium on Penile Disorders held in Hamburg, Germany, 26-27 January 1996, under the Chairmanship of Hartmut Porst. This was a unique conference in that it comprehensively addressed various disorders that affect the organ situated at the "center of the male", the penis. As an important beginning, the sociocultural aspects of the erect phallus were presented by G. Wagner from Copen hagen. The anatomy of the penis and the physiological con ditions of erection were then discussed by K. -P. J Unemann from Mannheim, Germany. Previous conferences on the penis had concentrated only on specific areas of disease such as impotence. However, it became readily apparent that at this conference something new for almost every as pect of disease would be discussed, including congenital disorders such as hypospadias and epispadias, sexually transmitted and noninfectious dermatological diseases, and congenital and acquired penile curvatures and penile fractures. An excellent presentation of managing penile cancer by stage related therapeutic decision was presented by S. C. MUller from Bonn, Germany. There is no better per son to present a discussion of Peyronie' s disease in 1996 from a historical and management perspective than J. Pryor from London, UK. This same degree of expertise was also demonstrated by I. Saenz de Tejada from Madrid, Spain, re garding priapism.
