Además, la gestión de la cadena de suministro incorpora otras actividades como la gestión de recursos humanos, infraestructuras, administración, mantenimiento, así como la consideración del aporte imprescindible de las nuevas tecnologías y los sistemas de información. La logística integral parece evolucionar hacia el concepto de operaciones fluidas de distribución y producción, avanzando en la integración funcional y en la eficiencia operacional, llegando a la consecución de ventajas competitivas sostenibles. Es importante enmarcar las actividades logísticas y de distribución comercial en un entorno económico cambiante y de globalización, teniendo siempre en el punto de mira al cliente, consumidor y usuario para conocer sus valores, necesidades y expectativas. En cualquier caso, el gerente logístico debe ser capaz de demostrar el impacto de la gestión y mejora de las operaciones en la organización como generador de valor.
