En el actual mercado globalizado en el que reina la incertidumbre y la competitividad, el reto principal de las empresas está en encontrar ventajas competitivas difíciles de imitar por sus competidores. Una de las formas de conseguirlo es mediante la adquisición de capital humano con talento, entendiendo por tal el producto de una serie de competencias, un alto compromiso y una contribución extraordinaria. En términos generales, la gestión del talento es el proceso que trata de atraer, identificar, desarrollar y retener a este capital humano, especialmente en los puestos que son nucleares para la organización. La finalidad de este proceso es optimizar el rendimiento del talento. Con el fin de comprobar si los aspectos teóricos analizados se cumplen en la práctica, se plantea el caso de la multinacional farmacéutica Boehringer Ingelheim en España. Así, mediante una entrevista a la responsable del Departamento de Recursos Humanos de la parte veterinaria, se ha corroborado que hoy en día, las empresas necesitan incluir la gestión del talento humano en su estrategia y su cultura corporativa.
