Apoyado en el pensamiento de grandes y auténticos filósofos (como Ortega y Gasset o el Dr. Osvaldo Loudet), analiza la situación vital de un área disciplinar arquetípica. Es así como se deja ver que el mal en que actualmente vive la medicina, esta crisis sanitaria que afecta a la salud pública, condensa en realidad el drama de un todo mucho más vasto, donde nada parece estar en su sitio y se echa en falta la presencia del antiguo Humanismo. Por su parte, el contenido crítico de este primer texto encuentra luego su faz constructiva complementaria en la segunda parte del libro, que nos invita a reconfigurar lo que se había impugnado. Y es que “En busca del concepto” se aboca, lógicamente, a la gran tarea de reconstruir frente a nuestros ojos, y tomando como base material a los hitos que marcaron las instancias más significativas de su desarrollo histórico, el concepto de “la medicina”. Sumergiéndonos en un recorrido apasionante por los orígenes mismos de esta disciplina, revisando aquellos primeros métodos de diagnóstico utilizados en el Antiguo Egipto o la Antigua Grecia así como en la India, para llegar a conocer la esencia de aquel prístino fondo común del que pronto emergerían la Medicina, la Religión y la Filosofía como las tres formas paradigmáticas de enfrentar el dolor. Con un estilo claro, profundo, sugestivo —e incluso a veces visionario—, los dos opúsculos que tiene ante sí ayudarán al lector a comprender efectivamente la realidad y a aproximarse, posiblemente, a alguna región ignorada, pero no por ello menos importante, de sí mismo.
