Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chef Alain Braux's approach to healthy eating is literally "down to earth" in this delightful and extremely useful guide to balanced, nutritious meals on a budget. With a passion for flavor and fresh ingredients, Braux takes us through an eye-opening grocery shopping experience (including the 12 most contaminated foods in the produce section, and what "natural" really means on food labels), to alternative shopping choices (farmers' markets, growing your own). Inspired by the foods he grew up with in his native France, Chef Braux's recipes will not only sate the appetite, but can feed a family of four on roughly $40 per day! Try the Soupe a la Tomate et aux Pommes (tomato and apple soup, $2.03 per serving), the Crepes aux Courgettes (zucchini crepes, $1.18 per serving), or the Poulet Epice au Basilic (spicy chicken with basil, $2.56 per serving). A truly valuable guide to nutrition, plus who knew French cooking could be so affordable!

Variations stylistiques includes an abundance of oral and written exercises that are practical, relevant, creative, and fun, encouraging students to use the grammar in meaningful contexts. By highlighting the many linguistic variants employed by native speakers, Dansereau provides an engaging alternative to traditional French grammar textbooks. Book excerpt: Bilingual English/French Book (Livre bilingue anglais/français) French Riviera is one of the first modern resort areas. It began as a winter health resort at the end of the 18th century. With the arrival of the railway it became the playground and vacation spot of British, Russian, and other aristocrats, such as Queen Victoria and King Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales. In the summer, it also played home to many members of the Rothschild family. In the first half of the 20th century, it was frequented by artists and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edith Wharton, Somerset Maugham, and Aldous Huxley, as well as wealthy Americans and Europeans. After World War II, it became a popular tourist destination and convention site. Many celebrities, such as Elton John and Brigitte Bardot, have homes in the region. The French Riviera is a major yachting and cruising area with several marinas along its coast. According to the Côte d'Azur Economic Development Agency, each year the Riviera hosts 50% of the world's superyacht fleet, with 90% of all superyachts visiting the region's coast at least once in their lifetime. As a tourist centre it benefits from 300 days of sunshine per year, 115 kilometres (71 mi) of coastline and beaches, 18 golf courses, 14 ski resorts and 3,000 restaurants. Although the Riviera is famous for the glamour of St. Tropez, Monaco or the Cannes Film Festival, there are many other less well known attractions, such as the perched villages of Eze and Gourdon, the perfumeries of Grasse and the glass blowers of Biot, the potters in Vallauris. The Riviera has been the inspiration for many well-known artists such as Picasso and many of their works are on display in local museums and art galleries.
