Book Synopsis Interpretazioni by : Cristina Pausini
Download or read book Interpretazioni written by Cristina Pausini and published by Georgetown University Press. This book was released on 2019-10-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interpretazioni is an intermediate- to advanced-level Italian textbook that aims to teach language through film, focusing on Italian movies from 2010 to 2017. Teaching language through cinema is a widespread and proven practice that engages all four main language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing), and Interpretazioni does so via the proven format and pedagogy of Pausini and Antonello Borra's previous book, Italian Through Film (Yale UP, 2003), which has enjoyed success and is regarded highly among teachers. Films featured in Interpretazioni span genres, address a wide range of themes, and are set in various parts of Italy, encouraging students and teachers to more fully engage with the complexity of Italian cinema. As in Italian through Film, the activities based on the films are divided into three main categories (before, during, and after viewing the film) with a natural progression from warm-up questions, to closed and controlled exercises, to open ended and creative tasks, both oral and written, including grammar practice, all within the context of each single film. An instructor's manual with answer keys and suggestions on using apps for teaching will be available on the GUP website.

Download or read book La Stregoneria in Italia written by Andrea Romanazzi and published by Venexia Editrice. This book was released on 2014-08-04 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Drenched in Grace by : Lizette Larson-Miller
Download or read book Drenched in Grace written by Lizette Larson-Miller and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-06-26 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of baptism within Christian history, theology, and practice is of the first order. Rooted in Christian Scripture, baptism is initiation into Jesus Christ and the sacramental beginning of engagement with the church, the body of Christ. In recent decades, the relationship between baptismal theology and ecclesiology has changed. Rather than focusing solely on the implications of baptism for individuals, the center of theological conversation has moved increasingly to the nature of baptism as formative of the church. One of the pioneers in exploring this theological issue in the United States has been the Rev. Dr. Louis Weil, who, from the time he helped author the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, has advocated for an approach called "baptismal ecclesiology." In a number of essays since the 1980s, Dr. Weil has encouraged an increasingly ecumenical conversation around this particular approach to ecclesiology. This ecumenical collection of essays by a distinguished and international group of sixteen scholars continues the conversation on liturgy and ecclesiology begun by Fr. Weil.
Book Synopsis The Other Italy by : Hermann W. Haller
Download or read book The Other Italy written by Hermann W. Haller and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Italy possesses two literary canons, one in the Tuscan language and the other made up of the various dialects of its many regions. The Other Italy presents for the first time an overview of the principal authors and texts of Italy's literary canon in dialect. It highlights the cultivated dialect poetry, drama, and narrative prose since the codification of the Tuscan literary language in the early sixteenth century, when writing in dialect became a deliberate and conscious alternative to the official literary standard. The book offers a panorama of the literary dialects of Italy over five centuries and across the country's regions, shedding light on a profoundly plurilingual and polycentric civilization. As a guide to reading and research, it provides a compendium of literary sources in dialect, arranged by region and accompanied by syntheses of regional traditions with selected textual illustrations. A work of extraordinary importance, The Other Italy was awarded the Modern Language Association of America's Aldo and Jean Scaglione Publication Award for a Manuscript in Italian Literary Studies. It will serve scholars as an indispensable resource book for years to come.

Book excerpt: "Treasures of a Lost Art presents 144 leaves, cuttings, and illuminated manuscript fragments from the collection of Robert Lehman (1891-1969), one of the largest and most impressive private holdings of Italian manuscripts assembled after the First World War. Discussed here - with many of them handsomely illustrated in full color - are important examples of the major schools of illumination in southern Italy, Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia, Lombardy, and the Veneto. Previously unpublished, and perhaps even unknown to scholars, are works by some of the foremost Italian painters of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, including a leaf here attributed for the first time to the Sienese master Duccio di Buoninsegna and cuttings by Stefano da Verona and Cosimo Tura. Lesser-known arists, such as Neri da Rimini, Belbello da Pavia, and Girolamo da Cremona, once renowned for their beautifully illuminated volumes, are also discussed in full."--BOOK JACKET.
