Konflikte sind ein ständiger Bestandteil unseres menschlichen Zusammenlebens und damit auch ein integraler Bestandteil jedes Unternehmens. Gerade aber im Unternehmen kann ein unsachgemäßer Umgang mit Konflikten sehr schnell zu Funktionsstörungen im Organisationsablauf führen. Dann wirken Konflikte bedrohlich und zerstörerisch, führen zu Stress und Unzufriedenheit bei den Betroffenen, schlechtem Arbeitsklima, Instabilität und damit zu zusätzlichen Kosten. Führungskräfte investieren etwa ein Fünftel ihrer Arbeitszeit für Maßnahmen und Handlungen im Zusammenhang mit Konflikten. Allerdings muss auch nicht jeder Konflikt schädlich sein. Ein Konflikt beinhaltet in sich auch immer ein gewisses schöpferisches Potenzial, das Veränderungen auslöst und zu sozialem Wandel und Fortschritt führen kann. Ein geschickter, offener und konstruktiver Umgang mit Konflikten ist daher gefragt. Doch wie lassen sich Konfliktabläufe steuern und positiv beeinflussen? Genauso wichtig, wie das Verständnis für die Entstehung und den Verlauf des Konfliktes sowie die Verteilung der Interessenslagen der Konfliktparteien ist auch die persönliche Konfliktkompetenz. Die vorliegende Studienarbeit vermittelt dazu Ansätze und Instrumente zur Behandlung von sog. unternehmensinternen Konflikten. Deshalb soll zunächst auf die wesentlichen Bestandteile eines Konfliktes, die Sach- und Beziehungsebene von Konflikten und die verschiedenen Konfliktarten eingegangen werden. Im Mittelpunkt der weiteren Kapitel stehen die Themenbereiche Sinn- und Funktion von Konflikten, Konfliktmanagement und Konfliktanalyse. Des weiteren sollen im Rahmen dieser Studienarbeit Konfliktlösungsansätze präsentiert werden, die sich an den Phasen des Konflikteskalationsmodells von Friedrich Glasl orientieren. [...]

The first part of the book treats problems of method as problems of social interaction and lists a series of research problems, which require analytic attention-gaining access to research sites, choosing a theoretical framework within which to approach a group or community, avoiding error, and developing hypotheses. They also exemplify this approach by analyzing the interactional aspects of definition, proof with qualitative evidence, bias, and the value commitments of sociology. Part Two illustrates Professor Beckers approach through full reports on two of his major research projects. Part Th ree contains four theoretical statements on how people change (a sociological approach to what psychologists call "personality"), and Part Four makes important contributions to the study of deviance. The papers here ask what we can learn about American society from looking at its common forms of deviance and illustrate the need to study deviance as part of the general study of society, not as an isolated specialty.
