It centers on the concept of 'male procreation', or the generation of new ideas through an erotic but non-physical connection between two men, and it sees Owen as both a product and a continuation of this Wildean tradition.

Book excerpt: Joyce criticism is a long way from having controlled the treasure trove of manuscript materials in the 63 volume James Joyce Archive. PROBES represents a new effort of incorporating manuscript research into critical concerns demonstrating in a practical manner how genetic work contributes to a fuller and more nuanced appreciation of Joyce's work. The organization of the essays is designed to highlight our two major but interlocking concerns: the nature and theoretical underpinnings of genetic criticism of Joyce and especially of Finnegans Wake, and some of the many ways that theory can be applied to the creative situation reflected in the notes and manuscripts. The questions raised in this volume are both current and important. Like Finnegans Wake itself, the manuscript record, because it is so complete, by stimulating the reader's curiosity and ingenuity, lends itself to a variety of approaches while rewarding specialized knowledge. Here too, as we decipher and transcribe, we are well advised to follow Joyce's advice and wipe [our] glosses with what [we] know. This volume will provide much that is new and of interest for all scholars of Joyce as well as scholars interested in the issues raised by genetic criticism.

I'm a self-made billionaire, and running my business empire means I've got better things to do than bother with women. They can throw themselves at me all they want-I can't be tempted. Until my newest executive secretary's first day on the job. One glance at her and I forget about spreadsheets and quarterly earnings, because her curves are pure sin. Her mouth is the wickedest distraction I've ever seen. And I swear she's begging me to f*ck her with those huge, green, innocent eyes. I'm not just her boss-I'm the CEO of the whole company. I shouldn't touch her, let alone bend her over my desk and make her moan my name. And I absolutely can't possess Vivienne the way I really want to, letting her slake my dark desires. But I also can't stay away... I'm not about to fall for my boss. Dominic Wilder thinks he can take whatever he wants just because he's rich and successful...not to mention his chiseled body and intense, dominating glare. Just because he makes me want to climb into his private jet and let him have his way with me right now doesn't mean I will. Here's the thing: I'm not just one of his secretaries... I'm an undercover FBI agent investigating him, and I'm on the verge of a breakthrough. This mission could make my entire career-there's no way I'm jeopardizing it for some nice abs and a little whispered dirty talk. Or even a lot of whispered dirty talk, not to mention his hands all over me, making me feel things I've never felt before. Even one kiss would be too reckless... Reckless Kiss is a steamy, suspenseful billionaire romance with adult language, no cheating, and a happily ever after that will melt your heart.

Skydiving, cliff jumping, surfing massive waves-I'll do anything to get my pulse racing. But even freediving the ocean's most deadly sinkholes pales in comparison to the rush I get when I meet Kennedy. And if there's a bet involved? I'm all in. I never turn down a challenge. Especially when the target is prim, proper, buttoned-up...and jaw-droppingly gorgeous. It's enough to make any man want to unbutton her and make her scream all night long. There's only one problem. My shy stunner wants nothing to do with me. He's a risk I can't take. I let my guard down once, and it ended with an accident that nearly killed me. Never again. I'm just fine being single and safe, thanks. So no, I don't want to dance with Gideon Hawke. Even if his gaze might set me on fire, his filthy mouth has me wetter than a river in spring, and the way he dances might get me pregnant. And I don't want to go home with him, get up close and personal with that massive bulge in his pants, or let him blow my mind. Letting him take me on a spontaneous getaway to a tropical island for no-holds-barred sex that rocks me to my core? Absolutely out of the question. Maybe he's fearless, but I live here on earth, and people don't just do that. Right? Fearless Kiss is a steamy, sweet billionaire romance with adult language, no cheating, and a happily ever after that will melt your heart.

Book excerpt: WILDE NOWreads Oscar Wilde through our now, through a contemporary sensibility (and approach), in which literature and popular culture interrogate and are interrogated by critical concepts and categories such as performance, celebrity, intermediality, and consumerism. This volume exceeds the shape and meaning of a critical study to turn into a drama of five different acts/moments in Wilde’s life and work: his early performances in Dublin, London and Oxford; the 1882 American tour; his successful season of the first half of the 1890s, his prison years and finally his glorious resurrection in contemporary pop culture. Most importantly WILDE NOW approaches these moments through contemporary rewritings and performances of “Oscar Wilde” in the fields of cinema, music and literature by such artists as Al Pacino, Rupert Everett, Stephen Fry, Gyles Brandreth, David Hare, David Bowie, Morrissey, Nick Cave, Neil Tennant, Gavin Friday. These artists – through their awareness of the importance of being/playing Oscar in their specific worlds and cultural contexts – will also show us that Wilde can be conceived as a subversive, critical role one might successfully perform and appropriate, now more than ever.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents for the first time the complete textual history of one of the most famous love letters ever written. Addressed to Wilde's lover, Lord Alfred Douglas, and composed in Reading Gaol, it was later given the title 'De Profundis' by Wilde's friend and literary executor, RobertRoss. It was Ross's severely abridged and sanitized version, published in 1905 and again 1908, which inaugurated the tradition of seeing De Profundis as the apologia pro sua vita of a broken man. This edition takes account of this complex heritage by arguing that Wilde's prison document may be seennot just as the basis of a letter (a typed copy of which may have been sent to Douglas) but also as an unfinished literary work which he intended for public consumption at some future date. Such a case is made by placing in the public domain, often for the first time, a number of different works, derived from different texts, each of which bears witness to Wilde's multiple intentions for his prison document. These texts comprise: the manuscript held in the British Library; the version of Wilde's letter published by his son, Vyvyan Holland, from a typescript bequeathed to him by Robert Ross;hitherto unpublished witnesses to that typescript; and Ross's editions, collated with each other. The commentary to this edition - again for the first time - sets Wilde's story of his own life in 'De Profundis' against the testimony of other players in his drama, including, most importantly, that ofDouglas. In so doing it exposes the partial nature of Wilde's narrative, as well as the personal obsessions which animated it. The commentary also demonstrates a hitherto unnoticed element of Wilde's work, the extent and nature of its richly layered intertextuality and its similarity, in itscompositional practices, to many of his earlier works.

Book excerpt: Wilde’s Wiles: Studies of the Influences on Oscar Wilde and His Enduring Influences in the Twenty-First Century is a collection of essays which celebrates the diversity of Oscar Wilde’s genius. This unique collection of scholarship explores not only his influence on a broad spectrum of subjects including: aesthetics, children’s literature, women’s issues, consumer economics, queer theory, politics, theater, film, poetry, Victorianism and other aspects of culture such as pedagogical approaches to Wilde’s literature, but it also examines the influence of his family and friends on him. Wilde’s Wiles: Studies of the Influences on Oscar Wilde and His Enduring Influences in the Twenty-First Century includes a wide range of approaches and concentrations written by international experts and has a broad spectrum of subjects which will appeal to a diversity of scholars seeking original and alternative approaches to understanding Oscar Wilde. The multiplicity of interest in the topic of Oscar Wilde expands across genres, disciplines, cultures and time, this being the second century of Wilde scholarship since his untimely death in November 1900 preceding the fin-de siècle. The unique, multi-discipline approach of Wilde’s Wiles is organized in three sections: “Aesthetic Approaches,” “Friends and Family,” and “Performance and Pedagogy” and bridges philosophical, sociological, psychological, economic and literary disciplines.
