Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Rih al-Khamsin!” It was an eerie howl rather than a cry. It multiplied and it traveled fast. This historical novel is an engrossing saga of court intrigue, forbidden love, and ferocious battles playing out in the colorful settings along the Nile during the reign of Aha, Second King of the First Dynasty of Egypt (ca. 3080 B.C.).Many compelling characters enliven KHAMSIN. The briskly-paced action evokes a tumultuous epoch. Coming alive in this multi-faceted epic are many characters ranging from fascinating to likable, from ambitious to suspicious, to plain unsavory. The eloquent narrative is divided into five major parts, with forty-three chapters, a poignant prologue, and a thought-provoking epilogue. Meticulous research of ancient sites and the way of life of those enigmatic Nile dwellers lends authenticity to this pre-Pyramid, pre-Pharaoh era of the Two Lands.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The earliest written references to the Osirian myth-complex appeared already in the Pyramid Text spells (c. 2400–2300 BCE). The most complete exposition of this ancient Egyptian myth is, however, found in the Greek treatise On Isis and Osiris, in which the 2nd-century CE Platonist Plutarch utilises Egyptian mythology to advocate his philosophical ideas concerning the divine and the nature of the cosmos. This book aims at “decoding” Plutarch’s narrative of the Osirian myth, linking his claims to the existing Egyptian and Greek parallels. It thus analyses a multitude of mythic and religious traditions from a transcultural perspective, exploring the relation of the Pharaonic features of the Osirian divinities to the features they had acquired in Ptolemaic and Roman times, interpreting the Egyptian myth within the overall framework of parallel mythologies from other cultures, and examining whether the brief mythic stories (historiolae) recited in Late Egyptian ritual texts can be deployed to enrich the context of certain obscure episodes in Plutarch’s account of the myth. The book will be of great interest not only to scholars and students of Plutarch and later Middle Platonism, but also to Egyptologists. Due to its thematic variety and scope, this publication will also appeal to a wider array of readers (specialists and non-specialists alike) interested in religious syncretism, interreligious connections, and the challenge of multiculturalism from Hellenistic times until Late Antiquity.

Book excerpt: Riveting adventure and international intrigue find Naunet and Jonathan Wilkins back in Egypt where the construction of The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam portends a catastrophe of biblical proportions. Imagine the mighty Nile running dry due to human interference. The novel is based on the construction of a huge Ethiopian dam on the Blue Nile, Egypt's lifeblood.Amidst their struggle to save an ancient site, the archaeologists are caught up in a dangerous conspiracy. The site of their explorations becomes a death trap when desperate politicians decide to turn an ancient underground labyrinth into an emergency reservoir. Will the combined recklessness of two governments explode into the annihilation of the inhabitants living along the Nile?In The Nile Conspiracy, several characters, good and evil, from the series' preceding volumes are once again pitted against each other, the elements, and time. Borg captures the struggles of an economically depressed Egypt by skillfully combining the challenges of her post-apocalyptic world with the awe-inspiring legends of an ancient culture. This is Book 5 of Inge H. Borg's historical fiction series about the mystery of Ancient Egypt, the "Legends of the Winged Scarab."Book 1 is Khamsin, The Devil Wind of The Nile (3080 BC). Book 2, Sirocco, Storm over Land and Sea, a modern-day action & adventure thriller. After the Cataclysm is Book 3. The Crystal Curse is Book 4.While all books can be enjoyed as stand-alone novels, some important background information will be lost if not read in sequence.

Book excerpt: Tanus is the fair-haired young lion of a warrior whom the gods have decreed will lead Egypt's army in a bold attempt to reunite the Kingdom's shattered halves. But Tanus will have to defy the same gods to attain the reward they have forbidden him, an object more prized than battle's glory: possession of the Lady Lostris, a rare beauty with skin the color of oiled cedar--destined for the adoration of a nation, and the love of one extraordinary man. International bestselling author Wilbur Smith, creator of over two dozen highly acclaimed novels, draws readers into a magnificent, richly imagined Egyptian saga. Exploding with all the drama, mystery, and rage of ancient Egypt, River God is a masterpiece from a storyteller at the height of his powers.
