The Back River system was first surveyed in 1984. This report presents the results of a 1986 survey to determine the distribution and abundance of moulting Canada geese in the vicinity of Bathurst Inlet and along the Hood, Western, Hiukitak, Ellice, and Back Rivers; to evaluate the importance of key habitat sites in the study area; and to record ancillary information on other wildlife in the study area. The study was conducted from July 11-13, 1986.
