Book Synopsis Finding Hope Within the Crisis by : Gary Texter
Download or read book Finding Hope Within the Crisis written by Gary Texter and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-09-13 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you gone through challenging times, wondering where to turn? In those difficult times in life, God has been my hope. As a small boy, I learned that God is always with us. And I sensed God's presence not only in church but also in the family, and, later, in friendships and marriage. Meditating on the scripture, The Healing of a Paralytic (Luke 5:17-26), I saw myself in the different characters in that scripture during life: a Pharisee, judging others, someone in the crowd, observing and listening, and many times being one of the men carrying the paralytic on the stretcher. During the crises of life, I was the paralytic on the stretcher, including both figuratively and literally during the largest single crisis of my life--my nine-month ordeal with COVID-19, going to death's door and back! It was others who carried me on that stretcher, and I saw God's hope through those that were there to carry me. Whether it was the woman I hadn't known before, tapping me on the shoulder asking how my mother was doing and telling me she was praying for her, to an entire church in Bloomingburg, praying for her, and, many years later, for me when I was in the grips of COVID-19, God's hope shines through people. I will be eternally grateful to all the women and men in the medical field, many of them are in this book, and some who I may never know their names. They were and continue to be God's vessels of hope for me. As are the many who prayed, locally, around the country, and the world. With joy upon my return home, Dr. Gulati, my local doctor declared it "nothing short of a Christmas miracle."

Afterwards, a combination of doctors and technology worked on restoring my physical body. Even after resuscitation, I was in critical condition, hanging on by a thread. Meanwhile, my mind wandered in oblivion for weeks. Against all odds, I survived. My physical recovery was miraculous and amazed everyone. But my emotional, mental, and spiritual recovery took much, much longer. Looking back on it now, I'm convinced my survival all started with a kiss and a whisper ... come back to me. This is my story; a story of a 38-year old man who suffered a massive heart attack followed by a number of life-threatening complications. It is a story of the obstacles and miracles encountered along my path to recovery so that catharsis could do its job. A job made much easier now that the worst of the danger has passed and life has returned to as normal as it will ever be again.
Book Synopsis While I Was Sleeping by : Mary Ellen Smith
Download or read book While I Was Sleeping written by Mary Ellen Smith and published by Author House. This book was released on 2012-01-10 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I find it ironic that the types of books I like to read and movies I like to watch are about people who have been faced with less than favorable odds and yet were able to beat those odds. Little did I know that my life was about to become one of these stories. On March 5, 2010, I was admitted to the hospital with influenza A, pneumonia that quickly went into Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. I was given less than one percent chance of survival. At first I wasnt too keen on the idea of writing about my illness. I wondered if I really wanted to go back and recount, or continue to remember, this nightmare. Would writing about it maybe help me down the road? Would this be what I needed to do in order to heal emotionally? A nurse in my neurologists office encouraged me to write my story because she said there never has been a book written about someone with Multiple Sclerosis who had gone through what I did and not have a fl are up from this disease, let alone survive. So she gave me the incentive to tell my story in hopes that it would help others. I also thought about other families who might go through similar situations and who could get encouragement from my experience. Above all, I wanted to express my thanks to my husband, my children, and my friends and to my God for the help and encouragement they provided during my illness and my road to recovery. I hope this encourages you as well.
