Book Synopsis Super Charge Power BI by : Matt Allington
Download or read book Super Charge Power BI written by Matt Allington and published by Tickling Keys, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-06-01 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Power BI is a powerful self-service (and enterprise) business intelligence (BI) tool that was first made generally available by Microsoft in July 2015. Power BI is a complete BI package that covers the end to end BI process including data acquisition (get data), data modelling (prepare/model the data) and data visualisation (analyse the data). And there is a lot of good news about this tool including the fact that the skills needed to succeed with Power BI are fully transferable to Microsoft Excel. There are 3 learning areas required to master everything Power BI Desktop has to offer.1. The M Language - used for data acquisition2. The DAX Language - used to prepare and model data3. Visualisation and analysis - used to present data in a compelling wayPower BI is probably the first commercial grade software product that brings all of these areas into a single software package that is completely accessible to a business user (you don't need to be an IT pro). This book focuses on number 2 above, the DAX language (Data Analysis Expressions). Super Charge Power BI Desktop is the second book written by Matt Allington and is a sister book to his first book Learn to Write DAX (first released Dec 2015). Super Charge Power BI Desktop uses the same learning and practice exercise framework as used in Learn to Write DAX however the entire book is written using the Power BI Desktop user interface. Unfortunately simply reading a book is normally not enough for Excel users wanting to get the most out of Power BI Desktop and to learn the DAX language - most people will also need some practice. Super Charge Power BI Desktop is different to other books - it is written in such a way to clearly explain the concepts of Power BI data modelling while at the same time giving hands-on practice to deeply engage the reader to help the new knowledge and concepts stick. The book first presents the theory, then provides worked through sample exercises demonstrating each of the concepts, and finally it provides the reader with practice exercises and answers to maximize learning retention.

Book Synopsis Linking Urban and Rural Tourism by : Susan L Slocum
Download or read book Linking Urban and Rural Tourism written by Susan L Slocum and published by CABI. This book was released on 2017-06-16 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Destinations rely on regional strategies to support and enhance the tourism product through regional partnerships and integration. Integrated tourism is defined as tourism that is explicitly linked to the economic, social, cultural, natural and human structures of the region in which it occurs. Integrated tourism has evolved to include numerous meanings and definitions, but generally includes a vertical business or industry approach. The first of its kind, this book applies a more inclusive approach to integration by providing insight into inclusive regional development strategies that support both the needs of urban and rural areas whilst enhancing the tourist experience, supporting the positive impacts of tourism and mitigating the negative. Regional studies tend to portray either an urban or rural focus without acknowledging that often these spaces constitute joint governance structures, similar historical and cultural roots, and economic dependencies. Sustainable tourism promotes sourcing locally, such as using rural agricultural products in urban tourism experiences. Furthermore, innovative rural marketing strategies linking tourism heritage, attractions, food and drink trails, and artisans with urban visitors are emerging. Including theoretical and applied research and international case studies, this will be a valuable resource to academics, students and practitioners working in tourism development and regional policy.

Book Synopsis Language of the Snakes by : Andrew Ollett
Download or read book Language of the Snakes written by Andrew Ollett and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2017-10-10 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A free ebook version of this title is available through Luminos, University of California Press’s Open Access publishing program. Visit www.luminosoa.org to learn more. Language of the Snakes traces the history of the Prakrit language as a literary phenomenon, starting from its cultivation in courts of the Deccan in the first centuries of the common era. Although little studied today, Prakrit was an important vector of the kavya movement and once joined Sanskrit at the apex of classical Indian literary culture. The opposition between Prakrit and Sanskrit was at the center of an enduring “language order” in India, a set of ways of thinking about, naming, classifying, representing, and ultimately using languages. As a language of classical literature that nevertheless retained its associations with more demotic language practices, Prakrit both embodies major cultural tensions—between high and low, transregional and regional, cosmopolitan and vernacular—and provides a unique perspective onto the history of literature and culture in South Asia.

Book Synopsis Framing Intellectual and Lived Spaces in Early South Asia by : Lucas den Boer
Download or read book Framing Intellectual and Lived Spaces in Early South Asia written by Lucas den Boer and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2020-09-21 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contributions to this book address a series of ‘confrontations’—debates between intellectual communities, the interplay of texts and images, and the intersection of monumental architecture and physical terrain—and explore the ways in which the legacy of these encounters, and the human responses to them, conditioned cultural production in early South Asia (c. 4th-7th centuries CE). Rather than an agonistic term, the book uses ‘confrontation’ as a heuristic to examine historical moments within this pivotal period in which individuals and communities were confronted with new ideas and material expressions. The first half of the volume addresses the intersections of textual, material, and visual forms of cultural production by focusing on three primary modes of confrontation: the relation of inscribed texts to material media, the visual articulation of literary images and, finally, the literary interpretation and reception of built landscapes. The second part of the volume focuses on confrontations both within and between intellectual communities. The articles address the dynamics between peripheral and dominant movements in the history of Indian philosophy.
