Book excerpt: The Secret of Inner Presence begins with author Lin Lipetzs story of her spontaneous spiritual awakening in 1986. This amazing and unexpected event created an immediate awareness of a loving Inner Presence within her heart and a connection to another higher level of peace, contentment, and greater knowledge. She now knows that Inner Presence waits patiently to manifest within each person, and much of The Secret of Inner Presence is about providing the keys to bring about that shift in consciousness. As each of the eleven keys is practiced and experienced, the transformation toward a more complete understanding of the core-self will gradually evolve through the loving guidance of the conscious Universe. One of the eleven keys opens the way to intuitively listen to the many voices that will assist in this transformation through healing, new insights, dreams, problem solving, and caring advice. Another key opens the way to deepen intuitively to the level of receiving messages from the Universe and possibly finding the guides that have been available since birth. This process is called Stream of Consciousness writing, and the powerful dialogues and inspirational poems the author has received in this way for many years are found in each chapter. Chapter by chapter, each of the eleven keys is presented, by both the spiritual Universe and the author, to help guide the reader to a higher dimension of the self.

After working with moms who wished life as a parent wasn’t so stressful, Mary Tan shows moms how to raise a child while staying cool, calm, and collected so they can be the moms they've always wanted to be: patient, loving, and in control. The Empowered Child is an eye-opening guide detailing the way out of parenting stress, so moms can take their power back without losing their cool. It reveals how to effectively coach children through life’s challenges with greater ease and confidence, including the Empower Method, which takes a wholistic approach to helping moms deal with a child that is hypersensitive yet strong-willed. Ultimately, moms regain their confidence and truly enjoy being a mom again!

Book excerpt: The North Atlantic and its adjacent waters are among the most dangerous in the world. Countless shipwrecks speak for a rough ocean. And yet, these seas are rich in wildlife like playful dolphins and colorful puffins. Ignoring the hazards and curiously, almost obsessed by sailing the European Atlantic, George and his wife cast-off in the Baltic to an open-end adventure. They sailed to Norway, Scotland, the Hebrides, the Iberian peninsular and promptly fell in love with these countries and their people. The nature in Norway is breathtaking, wildlife on the Hebrides stunning, Scotland is divine, the beer in Dublin is cold, and the sun nearly always shines in southern Europe. With autumn approaching, the Atlantic Ocean faced its first hurricane on the European side in history and underlined its reputation. The crew took it easy and saw what they hoped to see and much more. Then a virus came along, silently, mysteriously, and ruined all travel plans. Relaxing with each day passing by, the crew realized, live and perceive the moment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did you ever wonder about what’s out there? The one thing that religion prohibits is the right to question. In the real world we are all free to ask that we may grow. It is the relationship between the Creator and the created that is the beginning of our understanding. And this is the first step in the finding of faith in the discovery of what love is and in the wonder of being loved. When the answer is given we can move forward into the new day. We have right now and the journey begins with our first breath and ends with our last sigh. In between it is the miracles unfolding that are the treasures we keep forever. The one who gives is the true gift and there in the giving is the miracle itself- that we are remembered.

But Stella is unreachable, on her way home from a business convention and a humiliating hookup. A novel so compelling that it begs to be read in a single setting, The Sense of an Ending has the psychological and emotional depth and sophistication of Henry James at his best, and is a stunning achievement in Julian Barnes's oeuvre. But when he is presented with a mysterious legacy, he is forced to revise his estimation of his own nature and place in the world.

Marcy Axness details a unique seven-step, seven-principle matrix for helping children achieve self-regulation, self-reflection, trust, and empathy. These qualities are the result of dynamic interactions between genetics and environment, beginning before the child is even born: foundations for this level of health begin forming during the prenatal period, and some aspects of optimal development are influenced as early as conception.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eastern China is the country's boom-belt and its heart is the Pearl of the Orient, Shanghai, a city which was recently wonderfully described to me as "Hong Kong on steroids." Shanghai is the country's most modern city, but manages to retain both its Chinese and European history and its economic development is also helping a renaissance in culture and the arts, along with a shopping and nightlife scene matched only by Beijing and Hong Kong. Around Shanghai, the Water Towns have picturesque canals lined with classic Ming architecture and can make for great day trips, and a little further out, the city of Suzhou offers more of the same, albeit on a larger scale, along with some of the country's finest gardens and the opportunity for some serious silk shopping. Nearly 100 miles south along the Grand Canal, the former Southern Song dynasty (1126-1279) capital of Hangzhou is set on pretty West Lake and is a prime tea-growing region. Away from the lake the city is much like any other Chinese city, but the surrounding countryside and its smattering of temples and tea villages make for some excellent bike rides. Some 110 miles west of Hangzhou, Huangshan is arguably the most beautiful of eastern China's mountains and offers the region's finest scenery and best hiking. The mountain's mist-shrouded, jagged peaks, lone pines and perched temples are straight from a watercolor and it's no wonder Huangshan attracts so many visitors. But fortunately there are enough paths to ensure you can always find yourself a quiet spot. Known as the Pearl of the Orient, Shanghai has endured a boom-bust cycle like no other city in China and is a must-see for a glimpse into the China of the future. It currently has some 20 million residents. A walk along the Bund on the banks of the Huangpu River offers a cityscape to rival Hong Kong's, taking in the glory of Shanghai's colonial past, while at the same time giving views across the river to the city of tomorrow, Pudong. Less than 20 years ago, this was just marshy farmland, but today it boasts countless skyscrapers, among them China's highest tower, the Pearl Oriental TV Tower, and loftiest lodgings, the 88-floor Grand Hyatt. Traditional Chinese sights are a little sparse due to Shanghai's comparative youth, but its colonial and revolutionary history over the past 150 years has left it with a series of significant political buildings. What is more, there are modern activities aplenty, reflecting the city's dynamic and modern heart -fine dining, nightlife, shopping and a kaleidoscope of exhibition centers and good museums await. This a highly detailed guide to everything you need to know about Shanghai and its surroundings - the places to stay, the restaurants, and what to see and do - along with an extensive introductory section on China as a whole. The author lives in China and has been a tour guide there full-time for close to 10 years. This guide is an excerpt from his much larger guide to all of China, also published by Hunter, which is 650 pages in the print edition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This BEAUTIFULLY DESIGNED UNABRIDGED ORIGINAL CLASSIC EDITION WILL HELP YOU TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE! The Science of Mind is the revolutionary religious proposal, originally published in the early part of the twentieth century, written by Ernest S. Holmes and based on the teachings of the great philosophers. According to Holmes, God is a perpetual energy source, present throughout the universe. Through prayer, a person can reach God and heal spiritual, mental, and physical wounds. This 324-page complete authoritative edition, with an easy to read font, for an enjoyable reader experience, will help people transform their lives by actively engaging their minds in religious activities. Holmes believed in a philosophy of religion and psychology that emphasized the limitless potential of the human mind. He created the Religious Science movement, a part of the larger, popular New Thought movement. Believing that science, philosophy, and religion could all be connected for the betterment of the individual, his work expounds that the universe allows each person to dictate positive and negative feelings in their life. By employing Nature's forces and the power of God, they can reach a higher level of existence.
