Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the New York Times bestselling author of The Wednesday Letters and The Cross Gardener, a story of small kindnesses-and life-changing miracles. Seventeen seconds can change a life forever. This is what Rex Connor learned on a gorgeous summer afternoon in 1970 when, as a lifeguard, he diverted his gaze for seventeen seconds and tragedy occurred. Forty years later the waves of that day still ripple through the lives of countless people, including his son, Cole. Cole Connor has become a patient teacher, and now he has invited three struggling teenagers to visit him on his front porch to learn about Rex Connor—and the Seventeen Second Miracle. Together they will learn how Rex Connor could have allowed seventeen seconds to destroy him, but instead he chose to live every day believing the smallest of acts could change the world for good. And the students, each with their own secrets and private pains, will begin to understand that even tragedy brings lessons. Even pain brings comfort. Even death brings miracles. A seventeen second miracle can change a life—if you let it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carnegie Vitali, a self-made billionaire and hit man/assassin for an Italian mob family and a private organization, who lives a twisted lifestyle, tries to hold his family together by keeping them safe from unforeseen danger. He marries twice and shares children with both of his wives. His first wife never loved him. She only wanted the money. But his second wife, whose faith was strong in God, loved him through it all, hard and unconditionally. Carnegie also suffers off and on, dealing with three mental illnesses, multiple personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and paranoid schizophrenia. The one that affects him the most is multiple personality disorder, which causes him to turn into some of his alter egos unknowingly. Even though his wife and mother prayed consistently to God and needed him too, he still didn't believe in a God that would make someone mentally ill. Ordered to do another job, Carnegie kills a young boy's father, not knowing that he would soon grow up to avenge his father's death. The young man vowed that if he ever saw Carnegie again, he would kill him. Years later, tables turn. His past finally catches up to him, and near tragedy strikes hard, leaving his wife in the hospital with a 10 percent survival rate from a bullet taken in the chest that was meant for him. Feeling helpless, not knowing if his wife will make it through the night, Carnegie puts his differences aside and turns to God for the first time, hoping that his prayers will be answered.

Book excerpt: Paul “Rocky” Cody’s destiny was laid out for him before he was born. And on the slopes of the Appalachian Mountains in eastern Kentucky, the name Cody means family, and loyalty. But over the years, it has also become synonymous with legends of devil dogs with black fur and yellow eyes; the Appalachian Hellhound, spurring the evolution of the Hellhounds Motorcycle Club. When Rocky’s leadership is needed in Michigan, he decides to stay, serving as Vice President for a chapter badly in need of reorganization. Pouring himself into the role, he gives the Marysville Hellhounds his loyalty, his blood, and most importantly, his name. But at forty-two, he’s never had a thing to call his own. Sunny Anderson was broken a long time ago, but at thirty, she’s managed to pick up the pieces and start over… again. All she wants is a little peace and quiet for her and her daughter, the only thing she’s got left. She finds her solace in a little bungalow, surrounded by trees and abandoned farmland. But something more sinister lurks close by, something that will send Sunny on a collision course with the Hellhounds. Forced to stand her ground when the Hellhounds come knocking, she soon finds out that she’s got a part in the events that begin to play out. And Rocky can’t stay away from the fierce little woman in the woods, especially when his own family legends begin to take form. Thrown together, Sunny and Rocky must find a way to navigate their pasts together so that maybe, just maybe, they can have a future.

Book Synopsis David Blaize by : Edward Frederic Benson
Download or read book David Blaize written by Edward Frederic Benson and published by Bibliotech Press. This book was released on 1916 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: E.F. Benson's delightfully nostalgic classic of public school life is in the tradition of P.G. Wodehouse's Tales of St. Austin's. Memorably evoking the joys and torments of boyhood, from midnight feasts and glorious days on the cricket field to waxy masters and hilariously embarrassing parental visits, Benson follows young David Blaize from prep school to Marchester Collete - a thinly disguised portrait of the author's own beloved Marlborough. Affectionate, richly comic, and laced with E.F. Benson's inimitable wit, David Blaize is a marvellous entertainment from one of the century's greatest humorous writers. (Renee Manley)

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This provocative collection contains pieces both older and previously unpublished from the author's 20 year career. Readers will especially value the new material, pulled from his journalistic pieces written during his five-year employment at the Jewish Museum in Berlin. Posthumously published, this book gives one last celebratory glance at a writer who colorfully captured everyday life in New Zealand and provided many with a stronger sense of place.
