Book excerpt: The way Captain Rod figured it, running charters and catching the lucrative Giant Bluefin tuna could be the key to his financial success. Enter, Suzanne, the mysterious woman rescued from the storm. Little did he know that their chance meeting would take his boat, his fishing career, and his life, in directions he could never have imagined. So come aboard and sail with the captain and his loyal seadog, Kasey, along with a host of characters to find out what it takes to dive the cold waters of New England, chase the fastest game fish in the ocean, while taking the helm of Jus' Restin' as she navigates the ever changing waters of the Gulf of Maine. But keep one thing in mind: what you see, is not always what you get. These waters hold many mysteries and surprises, so you may want to keep a life jacket handy. Thar she blows Gary Wilder is a United States Coast Guard licensed charter boat captain and former Professional Association of Dive Instructors Divemaster. During his professional career in the electric utility, he built, started-up and maintained nuclear power plants throughout New England. He is presently semi-retired and resides with his wife on Cape Cod, Massachusetts running his pride and joy, Jus' Restin', sport fishing and hauling a few lobster pots. Coming from a family of story tellers, he lives by the adage his father used to quip, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." Jus' Restin' is his first novel.

Book excerpt: When the peccadilloes of his law-firm partner sink the business, Eddie Amos returns to the Commonwealth Attorney's office as a prosecutor having as his chief goals the conviction-on the basis of suspected longstanding sexual-abuse of boys-of (1) the administrator of a tax-funded youth organization in the central-Kentucky city of Lexington, and (2) the city's drug-czar/pimp. At the same time, a young attorney instigates a heretofore-unheard-of wrongful-death lawsuit, generated by a drunk driver, against a distillery, and the two lawyers work together to achieve their goals. An assassination, two murders and a possible suicide impact or result from their efforts. Characters ranging from the most sublime to the seamiest-an Episcopal priest (Vietnam veteran), drug pushers, dope-heads, prostitutes, embezzlers, rogue cops, troubled teenagers, a greed-driven booze-maker, corporate lawyers, sexual perverts, a hit-man, sex-abuse victims, and a devout and beautiful paralegal-are caught up in the process, during the development of which Amos, the priest, a restaurateur embittered by the drunk-driver-induced death of her husband, a corporate attorney's wife, the young lawyer and the paralegal progress through spiritual journeys and/or experience the developing of romantic attachments or profound heartbreak, but find some answers to hard questions.

Anwen Sedge, a young Meadow Witch apprentice, lives in a rural village that hasn't seen giants since the Great Beanstalk War. So it's quite a surprise when one drops from the sky and squishes the village flat. It's an even bigger surprise when Anwen discovers that he was dead BEFORE he hit the ground. This is a murder! The only solution is for Anwen and her arch nemesis, Cerys (who's the best at High Magic and won't let anyone forget it) to send a plea for help to the giants' kingdom, using a magic beanstalk. But the beanstalk backfires, shooting the two rivals into the giants’ kingdom before crumbling to dust! There, they make a terrible discovery – the murdered giant was none other than the king. And the giants have no magic of their own to get the girls home. Trapped in the royal palace and surrounded by intrigue, Anwen decides to use her Meadow Witch skills to unmask the killer, despite Cerys's doubts in her. With the help of a few new friends and her reluctant rival, can Anwen figure out who murdered the king before the killer strikes again?

Book excerpt: London, in the autumn of 1888, is a city gripped in fear. The infamous Jack The Ripper is prowling the streets, viciously butchering East End prostitutes in a series of crimes that are shocking the world. The Commissioner of Scotland Yard, Sir Charles Warren, responds to the madness by appointing the dashing, self-assured, Donald Swanson to lead the investigation into the horrific crimes. As Swanson wades further and further into the bizarre facts of the case, he slowly discovers that the murders are not the random acts of brutality that they appear, but rather cold and calculated assassinations. As he digs deeper, he slowly uncovers the unbelievable and shocking motives behind the killings. At the same time that Swanson's investigation is progressing, an American tourist, Jim Daulton, is falling in love with a young, beautiful woman named Mary Davis. Their romance is deep and intense until Jim learns that history has marked her to be the final Ripper victim. As Jim struggles to save Mary from her grim fate, he will unknowingly provide Donald Swanson with the missing facts that he needs to expose the killer's identity as well as the ancient secret brotherhood upon whose orders he is acting.
